HI,

Hoping for some recommendations for nappies for ds. He is 4 weeks old and I am looking at getting some mcns.

We are currently using prefolds and thirties duo covers, which fit well, I have bought one Magicall but it seems a bit gapey around the legs. Although he might be a bit small for it yet.

I also have some issy bears on order.

So what would you recommend for a sskinny boy?

Newborn chicken legs are pretty hard to accommodate in the early days I reckon! The tots bots teeny fits are good but since your boy is 4 weeks old there's probably not much point trying them, they only go up to 6kgs I think. Great leg seal though. I've heard people rave about bubblebubs for skinny newborns but haven't tried them myself. Fattycakes are really great but probably not so easy to come by in a hurry (except for second hand on the FB MCN page perhaps). TBH you're probably best off sticking with the prefolds and covers a bit longer until your son fattens up a bit, then you could go straight into a one-size fits all nappy like ones and twos or something. They look to me to be very similar to bumgenius but much cheaper (my DD1 had skinny legs and was in bumgenius very early on actually).

My DS has always had chicken legs even now he is 2, I love Bambooty nappies for their fit. I have only ever had the sized ones in the easy-dry though, haven't tried their new one-size.

fuzzibunz worked really well for my skinny mini. But I dont' think I was using them at 4 weeks - your little one might plump out a bit and fit most nappies soon.

I also bought Fuzzibunz on recommendation on these boards, for my premmie-legged chookie. They have adjustable leg elastic. They worked really well.

Strangely, now that she's got big fat legs like her stocky daddy, she's leaking through her Fuzzibunz, but not her other nappies. I can't quite figure out why they're no longer fitting so well. I dont' think this would happen to all babies. Maybe they just ain't so good for buddha-legs!

Although we are well beyong mcn's my last ds was tiny for months (born at 5 pound 12 or 2.6kgs) and always had chicken legs.

We loved bubblebubs and bambooty.

Unless issy bears have changed over the past 18 months you will find them extremely bulky.

If you are still looking, itti bitti are a trim fitting nappy and are doing a flash lucky dip sale so you could get two or three small-sized nappies to try out. Otherwise keep an eye out for sales, but they fit slim kids quite well.

I LOVE my Issy Bears but they are definitely bulky, you may find them a bit big until he is 5 or so kg big.

Sabre's a preemie with chicken legs

We have been using bubble bubs bam bams (Aussie company, made in Brisbane)

They are cut like a nappy shape & held together with a snappi.
This allows you to get a good tight fit around the legs.

They are fully absorbent & I have had no leakages unlike the Huggins newborn nappies which leaked all over the place ( free from hospital, but useless)

Speak to the girls at nest nappies they are very helpful

anything that has a wide crutch. If you have NB stuff to deal with go a fitted and cover and turn in the frills. BBH or Mandy Macs work great.
