Hi Girls,

I have been stalking the EB forum for about 3 months now, it has been so helpful teaching me loads about the TTC journey and what to expect. I feel like I know all of you personally, so I better introduce myself and tell you a bit about my TTC adventures so far. Hopefully someone may be able to help me because at the moment... I feel stuck....

I went off the BCP (after 6 years, 4 without taking sugars at all... sad.gif ) in early May this year, since then I have had 3 cycles- 41 days, 48 day & 42days and currently on day 54 of the 4th. Skip to the current cycle and here is how it has played out so far. I used F2F OPK this month and not a even close to positive at all tested twice a day from day 10 to day 40 not even a hint of positive, (the previous month I used OVUNOW OPK and got a pretty much positive on day 29 got AF 11 days later...) I did get full ferns on MB on day 35 and a slight 2nd line on OPK- so assumed that I was about to O'D ( although I know from your discussions I should throw MB out the window biggrin.gif ). We DTD every 2nd day from 19 to 35 and then twice a day 35,36,37 and then again on 39 & 40.

I assumed my period would have arrived around day 46 (as per previous LP length) but nothing, I waited until day 48 latest I have ever & nothing- so I tested using FRER and it was negative. I thought for sure I was pregnant- light headness, twinging/cramping, CM abundant. But negative, since then I have done about 10 - F2F IC tests and all negative- I did have some brownish (TMI) CM on day 46/47 but that has been replaced now but just normal creamy CM. I have cramping and assume AF has arrived and nothing........

I have made an appointment to see my doctor on Friday just to be 100% sure that I am not preggers and see what she thinks..... A little bit more information about myself to help "diagnose" me! I am 27 DH is 34- we are both fit & healthy and no known medical issues- I have bloods done a couple of months ago and my doctor said all my levels for TTC were fine. I have just started Vitex this cycle to try and reduce length- zinc, Folate & Iodine- (changed over to Conceive Well Gold about 2 weeks ago). I also got a BBT to start Temping for next cycle (which hasnt even started.... unsure.gif ..) took my temp this morning and it was 35.77c. So officially 8 days late.... but I have no set cycle length so who even knows..... Please help......

Thanks girls,

Hi Brookey T,

Welcome!

It sounds like you're doing all the right things, bloods to ensure levels are good for conceiving, taking zinc to shorten cycle - you could try seeing a naturopath or accupuncturist if your cycles are still longish, accupuncture really helped shorten mine.

Your body is definitely trying to tell you something, though exactly what that is... I don't know! Good idea to see your GP. One of my cycles was ridiculously long, I had twinges and cramping and was referred to have a scan which revealed a large corpus luteum, totally normal but excretes excess progesterone which can delay period and make you feel a bit funny. Could be that?

Just know that you are absolutely doing all the right things, you're staying in control, being proactive and talking to the right people. Keep going, it will happen original.gif

Thanks Madammuck- I am off to Google Corpus Luteum unsure.gif . I had booked in with an accunpuncturist this afternoon but have delayed until I see the GP on Friday.

Hi Brookey T

I would be very interested to hear how you go at the doctor having just gone off the pill myself and with cycles that are also hard to predict.

Please make sure you post the outcome of your appointment on Friday.

Good luck biggrin.gif

Hi BrookeyT sounds to me like your doing everything you can to sort it out, frustrating as it is when your cycle goes on so long, how did your appointment on Friday go?

Like you I only just this last fortnight bought a BBT thermometer to set up a chart temping. Have you set up a fertility friend chart? This is actually giving me a much clearer picture of what is going on and might give you something to work with. I have just had 2 really long cycles myself this year after coming off BCP am currently in cycle 6 after a 47 day cycle.

Keep us posted on how the appt went.

fx for you

Happy Sunday afternoon everyone cool.gif sorry been a very busy weekend. Went to see the Dr, Friday. She has sent me for a blood test tomorrow to confirm not pregnant firstly. From there she has suggested I go to my gyno. to investigate why I am yet to see AF... day 57 today? So pretty much nothing new to report, I asked her about going to try a naturopath/accun. in the meantime and see was happy with that. I am not feeling any new symptoms, I feel as healthy as a horse. Only 2 different things are I am quite bloated and pretty tired by the early evenings, but I could just be run down. Who knows.
I have done another preg test yesterday and definitely nothing so I can pretty much rule that out.
I think its best I do go and see my gyno in case something is wrong........

Sorry guys no real answers.....

Hi Brookey T,

I feel your frustration. I am also struggling with long cycles, my last being 55 days. I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid which can attribute to long cycles and I have an appointment with my Doctor tomorrow to check my levels since increasing my medication. If people think the two week wait is frustrating long cycles on top of that can be torture. I hope your appointment with the gyno goes well and that your body is just getting used to being off the BCP.

Good luck!

Since my last period I have started taking Vitex to try and reduce my cycles, but I have just researched that this may have the opposite affect on some women and delay your period. Has anyone had a similar experience? I am going to stop with Vitex and see if changes anything... worth a shot I think..... unsure.gif
