DF and I desperately want to move down the coast to where his family and all our friends are. There are two factors why we haven't.
1. It would be hard for me to get a job down there (DF could walk into a job tomorrow).
2. We don't have enough equity in our house to sell.

It has been brought to my attention that a job that would be perfect for me has been advertised. My dilemma is I don't know if I should apply for it or not. If I don't get it, then there is no dilemma, we stay where we are original.gif

However, if I applied and got the job, the problem is where would we live?

Even if we did want to try to sell the house, there is too much that needs doing to it to get it ready for sale and we don't have the time or money to do it. We're getting married in April and all of our money is being squirrelled away for that.

Some of the carpet in our house is almost threadbare (and has been since we moved in). Kitchen and Bathrooms are fine. I guess we could rent our place out (we'd get almost what we pay in the mortgage in rent.) Though I'd feel guilty doing that when the carpet is less than ideal. Mind you we rented a place with carpet that was in worse condition than this is.

We have a menagerie... all of whom I adore and will not get rid of any of them. But I am guessing finding a rental with 5 indoor cats and 2 dogs (who can be outdoors) would be pretty hard to impossible (though it is a rural area, so there are houses on 20 acres we could rent.) Rent would about $350 a week less than our mortgage. My wage would increase and DF's would go backwards, overall we'd be bringing home at least an extra $20k gross a year. I'd say it would take 12 months, probably less to save enough for a deposit and costs to buy a house down there.

I am just not sure if I should apply or not?

WWYD????

I don't think there's any harm in applying. Even if you're offered the job, you're not obligated to take it.

Apply. You never know if you don't try! You can alway decline to take it if they offer it to you if you really can't make it work.
