Molluscum contagiosum warts?

http://www.rch.org.au/kidsinfo/fact_sheets/Molluscum/

My 5yr old has had them on the side of her stomach for almost 6months now. They aren't healing, we have tried tape stripping but it irritated her eczema to the point that we wont be trying it again.

Her eczema has flared up to the point she is scratching until she bleeds. Creams from the doctors help for a few days and then it flares straight back to where it was.

If your child or someone you know has had them:
How long did it take for them to go away on there own?
Was there a form of treatment that helped?
any advice you could share?

Thanks in advance

My dd had them from about 9 months till she was nearly two. Doc just said to leave them alone and they should go away on there own accord... she had one very persistant one that stayed on her chin for over a year but there is now no sign of it. Dont try to scratch them or get them off as they can scar.
My doc said they can freeze them off it they stay on longer than 2 years but dont like to on young children as again they can leave a scar

she had them on her face, arms and chest....even one on her leg at one point. They would vary weekly. Sometimes only had about 10, other times she would have up to about 40. they all seemed to come and go at different times. Some would only last a week others would stay for months

My little boy had them for probably a year, maybe a bit longer? Started on his legs and moved to his stomach and side. We were advised not to do anything to them and so we didn't, and they all went away eventually. There is a visible mark where two of them were - they were the worst ones and the only ones that he really scratched and tore open. But even those marks are fading so I don't know if they'll be there permanently.

thank you ladies. It is reassuring to hear that they went away.

DD had eczema as a baby and hadn't got any for a few years until these warts showed up. it is quite bad and im worried more about the eczema then the warts themself.

we only use eczema shampoo, conditioner, bathwash, moisturiser and prescription cream on her. thinking i may need to swap to soap nuts for washing powder to see if that will help her.

apparently the warts can flare up preexisting skin conditions.
thank you for your help

My DS#1 has a combination of eczema and molluscum contagiosum. The molluscum have been there for over a year now. Tape didn't work. GP says he promises they won't be there when DS is 21.

My brothers had these when they were little. I never got any for some reason. Mum can't remember exactly (20 years ago now) but she said it lasted about 9months - 1year and went away by itself. The older of my brothers had it worse and had heaps.

I had this when i was a youngin, It cleared up in 2 weeks with a topical cream.
I had a recurrance about 8 years ago, and it was my choice to use aldara cream ($$$) from the doctor, or send a script to the Royal Childrens for a jar of made up cream which was much cheaper than aldara. Highly recommend the cream.
