Hi,

Wondering if anyone has gone through the catch program at Woden hospital and how they found it? We have our first appt on Friday.

And

Where is the best place to park to get to the new women's and children's part of the hospital?

Can't comment on the CATCH program as apparently I didn't make the cut!! (We're due the same day )

For parking, the only real option is the multistory unless you are very lucky in getting a 1hr park behind the National Capital Hospital (but you're appointment will probably take longer than this).
I'm not sure if you can park near the school without the chance of being booked either...

The entrance to the hospital is right down near the school so its easier to walk along the outside of the building rather than get lost in the building

I'm not sure who planned having the parking so far from Maternity, but it must've been a man

I went through the catch program (had baby in June) and I loved it!

I didn't actually get in until my third trimester, and ended up having a different midwife at the birth but I still thought it was fantastic. For me the best part was that your midwife could do home visits daily for up to two weeks following the birth. My birth went really well, but we did have some problems with breast feeding so this help at home was just so valuable.

As PP said closet parking would be behind the National Capital Hospital, but if that's full then your only other option would be the big new multistory. Just make sure you go early so you have time to look for a park / walk from your park.

i had my first antenatal clinic visit at the hospital yesterday, and it is a bit of a maze finding the place (luckily i can book all my appointments in phillip from now on in)

I did have one extra scan at around 30 weeks to check on a low lying placenta. I'm pretty sure that scan was bulk billed. All my earlier scans were before I got into the catch program. I also had a lot of extra appointments and tests due to high blood pressure and I don't ever remember having to pay for anything.

I did most of my antenatal appointments at phillip or tuggeranong and it is heaps easier than trying to park at the hospital!

There's a few child & family health centres you can do appointments at - not sure where you are, but there's one in Gungahlin, Holt, Tuggernong, not sure about phillip. Just remember these ones but you can ask them what the nearest one is when you make your next appointment. I'm going through birth centre and so far have paid for all scans. Had 2 early ones, then the 12 week NT which I bought to my first appointment and the 20 week morphology. Actually my midwife was away so think I saw her first just after the morphology scan. As for later ones don't know, none needed so far, but I've been told TCH basically only handles scans for high risk or emergency.

The hospital is doing my 20week scan, but I also need monthly scans after. I am going to ask if they will do follow on scans.

If FMU is doing your 20 week scan then they will continue to do them for you and all will be bulk billed.
