I was served by "Chardoneh" whilst I was away last week. I also saw a big semi trailer with a painting of what I presume where the owners daughters. One of the names underneath was "Nayoh'meh" PMSL. It's like the parents spent too much time on LOLcats looking at the kittehs. |

There are most definitely bogan names. I am itching to name and shame some of the classics but I know I will get flamed by the 'personality not the name' crowd!!
What's the name OP? No doubt you will get an honest answer. |

Nayoh'meh? Surely not? What are people thinking when they do this to a name?

QUOTE Nayoh'meh? Surely not? What are people thinking when they do this to a name? What's worse is when you read it (and then figure out what it is supposed to be) and your first thought it "I can't wait to get home and put that one on EB!" |

Spelling is the #1 - but mispronunciation of a legitimate name is nearly on par... (Yes I'm still mentally scarred by poor Juanita.... "WE pronounce it 'Jew -a- neater'..") Shirley, you jest! Anyone named after a car, motorbike, boxer or v8 driver (F1 drivers are fine, lol). Any invented spelling or pronunciation. Any name that could be used on Bold and the Beautiful. |

Usually the spelling, for me, or the being named after something really not name like (eg. Chardonnay)
Looks like I got some bogan though as my preferred name for DD was Anya |

My SIL's have used it. I'd share some of the monstrosities they have inflicted on their kids but that combination of names is pretty identifying. Unique spellings, ethnic names completely unrelated to the parents heritage, or one of 'those' names that while completely conventional in spelling 'everybody' knows is Bogan. For me my daughters name (Aiyanna) was pushing the Bogan borders, but we loved the pronunciation and the alternative spellings got mangled when we showed them to relatives. So its okay if you have a bogan name (and many would consider Aiyanna bogan) but not that anyone else does - that to me is more bogan than the name itself. |

Tiphanie/Tiphany are actually old variants and to me definitely don't approach bogan because of the spelling.
