Looking on my local hospitals online nursery photos & saw a little boy named Buzz. For some reason, although it reminds me of toy story, I dont mind it!

At my children's primary school we had a Tiger, a Diesel and a Chicane. they were always being asked what their real names were. If anyone seriously thinks Buzz is a good name for a real, living person they should maybe change their own name to Buzz.

there was a Tiger at DDs day care. For a long time I thought is was a nickname & wondered why the teachers called him by his nn all the time.

There was a Tiger at the playground yesterday.

I know there is a Tiger Woods and a Buzz Aldrin but sometimes the American names just don't work so well here. Clearly just my view but we don't usually have names like:

Randy
Candy
Chuck
Buzz
Tiger

What fresh hell is this?
My FILs nn is Buzz, like Buzz Aldrin.

It's not a name I would give on a birth certificate.

Eugene Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin.

Yes

And Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods

Nothing wrong with the nickname - but it IS a nickname.

For the record we LOVE Buzz Aldrin in this house! Not so much that we'd officially name a child that though.

I just saw Chicane in another list on here, and am aghast that this has genuinely made it on to a real life kid. It's a TRAFFIC CALMING device, for gawds sake, like a ROUNDABOUT or SPEEDBUMP. Have I missed something? Are we naming people after things we see out the car window now? I like this game - Bollard?
