So I am just sick of bf. I know its the best for baby but I just loathe my breasts being sucked all the time.

How do I stop this feeling?

How old is your baby? Are you finding it painful or bothersome? Could you try pumping?

My first breastfeeding goal was to make it to 8 weeks. By then I was confident that both bub and I would have found some rhythm and the pain would be more bearable. Once I got to 8 weeks I found things had improved greatly so I extended that goal by a few more weeks and so on and so on.

There are a few different options / combinations but its about what works best for you and your baby.

I didn't like it at the beginning either. Thought it was gross.

Only continued with some encouragement from DH. At 10 weeks realised I enjoyed it and continued feeding until 15 months.

Good luck.

It depends on the age of baby OP. If it's an older child, it's ok to put limits and rules in place. Breastfeeding is a relationship between the two of you and both parties have to be happy.

If it's a young baby, try distracting yourself while feeding - reading, tv, meditate. Also look into D-Mer as a possibility. I think I had a mild case with both my kids and distraction helped me, as well as feeding somewhere quiet.

Another good article Are mothers meant to love b'feeding 24 hours a day?

I never enjoyed it. I got to 10 months with DD1 and 8 months with DD2 (mixed feeding - introduced 1 or 2 formula a day from about 4 months) I had to read, or watch TV, or browse on the iPad at the same time, that somewhat helped.

I read a book or play on my phone while feeding, it makes it feel like a little break.

A friend feels the same - she fed her first for 3 months before switching to formula. Second time around is hoping to feed longer with the motivation of less hassle with making the bottles, stressing over how much etc and thinking about all the money being saved each feed. It's definitely mind over matter for her and done a feed at a time.

She has actually come along to my Australian Breastfeeding Association group for advice and support. It was great to hear about her different perspective and see that all of us get touched out sometimes, it's just a stronger version for her (like you).

All the best and just accept that this is your version of feeding. It's fine, just not fun IYKWIM? It seems like forever, but in the scheme of life, it is such a short period of time. Maybe motivate yourself with some rewards for milestones? Some days take it one feed at a time and don't think beyond that. Get support and information so you can make a decision that in both your best interests original.gif

If you are BF your 2 yo, then I reckon you can stop - what a fantastic job you have done so far.

If its a younger baby, then you might want to stick it out for as long as possible. I have a radio with ear piece that I use when feeding, or else I just close my eyes and try to relax while BF.

Good luck.

OP before I had DS the thought of breast feeding made me want to literally vomit. (So maternal right) but I did it and I hated every single second of it, I gave up as he just kept screaming almost non stop for the first weeks (and yes babies cry but this was beyond a joke) With the girls I have just gone straight to expressing, through this I have seen that I don't make much milk anyway and it dries up BUT even though my DS may have gotten more nutrient or whatever and I was doing what nature intended me to do I dreaded feeding, and it was the worst part of my day and I hated it and wanted it to be over. This is not the thoughts I wanted going through my mind when I was trying to establish a bond. My DH and MIL suggested forumla and I am so greatful to them for that as I then started loving looking down at my little man feeding.

I hated it too. Mostly. Like pp, I set small goals ie 2 weeks, a month, 3 months until I got to 6 months. Both of mine weaned between 6 - 7 months. ( I encouraged them by offering bottles as an alternative at feed times).

Funnily enough I'm actually looking forward to feeding #3. Will probably feel differently after if had him 'stuck on me' for days, lol! I got a lot of sensory overload from bf.

Do what works best for your situation and try something different..
