My baby is nearly 9 months and I cannot find a good way to bath him.

He's too big for his baby bath so I haven't used that in quite a while.
I would sometimes shower with him but now I feel he's too wriggly and heavy to do that safely anymore.

We have a bathtub but kneeling next to that and bathing him is soooooo uncomfortable for me. I put towels under my knees but leaning over the bath kills my back. He is also hard to keep hold of like that as he likes to splash and wriggle around.

At the moment either my husband or I get in the bath with the baby, but it's not ideal and the process takes a lot longer.

Baby loves his bath's though!!

So, how do you bath your baby? Do you use any bath aids to make it more comfortable for you/your baby?

We bath our 8 month old in our big bath. She LOVES to splash so we fill the bath only a few centimetres deep and she lies on her back in the water. We obviously are right there beside the bath but bathing her this way saves our backs as we don't have to lean over and hold her and can wash her easily when she bathes in this position. So basically, when she's on her back in the bath the water comes up to her ears if that makes sense? She loves being bathed this way, she can kick and splash and wriggle around!

Alternatively, have you tried a bath seat?

Our 15-month-old has been bathed in the laundry trough for the past six months and he loves it. It's also so quick to run his bath. original.gif

If he can sit up you can buy those deep plastic drinks tubs and sit him in that.

My daughter used to have one of those seats that sit in the bath and her babies used to sit in that and have a lovely time and you didn't have to worry about them going under the water.

I barely survived yesterday & its already today!
Like a PP, at that age he'd lay on his back with enough water to come to his ears.

We could sit on the floor and use a washer without having to support his head, keep his face up high enough etc

We use a Flexibath: http://www.arealcoolworld.com.au/range/32

I can't recommend it enough. When DD was tiny we put it on the kitchen bench. Now it sits in the big bath. DD is 16mo and VERY tall and it's still easily big enough.

Plus, it folds flat (which is great for our small bathroom) and it very non-slip (which is great as DD now stands up when you're not looking).

In terms of your back, I sit on the loo with the lid down, as it's right next to the bath. Or you could take a chair into the bathroom. This is assuming your LO can sit up on their own of course!

Great suggestions!

We do have a laundry trough, don't know why I've never thought of using it before! Just need to buy a plug for it but that's easily done.

Will try out your suggestion for his next bath Flutterbug and see how he likes lying in the water. He's a keen splasher so it might be a good solution!
