We have told each of our three best friends. DP's three friends can't keep their mouths shut though... grr. My three GF's have been fantastic. I also told the team leader at work (she is the mum of the office and helping me lots!).

We just got a scan this morning and now we have seen the HB and told we are about 6.4 we have decided immediate family (apart from DSS) should know so DP is sending me to my parents tonight... I'm am terrifed! My parents aren't the biggest fans of DP and although we are very happy, we have only been officially together for a little under a year.. (we had been seeing each other for about 2 before that though)..
I know my mum is going to cry. Gah.. I'm chickening out already!

DP's side probably won't get told for a while. He doesn't know his father, doesn't talk to his mother, and we only see his brother when he wants something.. so we don't want any dramas...

We haven't told many people yet, but have where it's been too awkward not too, and I prefer to tell friends in person so if I know I'm not going to see them in a while I'll tell them...

BUT....

I'm 7 weeks and I'm finding that while I'm not awkward about telling people before 12 weeks they are a bit. It's like they feel they can't fully celebrate until I get to 12 weeks. It's been a bit disheartening TBH, as DH and I are really excited, and *touch wood* if something were to wrong we'd worry about it then but for the meantime it's nice to be excited. Some people are even asking me to tell them when I get to 12 weeks.

It seems strange to me as I'm otherwise a very fit, healthy 30 year old with no medical issues etc.

I'm revising my strategy now and thinking I'd rather wait for another five weeks. Sad, but oh well unsure.gif

Aixeen that's really quite sad sad.gif

I thought people would be happy and excited for you. I understand everyone always mentions the magic 12 week marker but it's exciting regardless of what stage you are at.

Yeah I know right....that's what I would have thought!

Added to the fuss we found our yesterday we're expecting twins oomg.gif We've decided now to keep it a bit more quiet, which is hard because it's such huge news (as if it wasn't huge enough), but I just want to celebrate it and given the reactions thus far feel like while people are happy, they are reservedly so. It kind of spoils the fun. Best to keep quiet until 12 weeks and then we'll feel like everyone will properly enjoy the news. Hopefully it's not like this for everyone else, but I'd be interested to know if anyone has experienced this.

At least DH and I are over the moon about it original.gif

Alxeen - that's really strange. The way I see it, there is a risk no matter where you are in the pregnancy. And people worrying on your behalf, when it's all good news for now (and most likely to remain so) is a bit odd.

I've had the complete opposite. I have to keep reminding people, particularly my dad, that it's really early days yet and no he can't tell the whole family. I was thinking of telling more people pretty soon, but I hope I don't get the same reaction you did.

Congrats on your twins by the way. I understand you wanting to be a bit more cautious now... but you also must be bursting to tell!

Haha! I don't know BBV! My dad is very excited about grandkids and really wants to show off to his brothers I think (1 of 5, they've always been very competitive!).

Hey everyone, we had planned on just telling both our immediate families and my best friend but seriously the amount of people who have caught on is unbelievable.
The worst problem is working in a hospital cause people are so cluey. It also didn't help having a gastro outbreak on the ward I worked on so I had to be moved to another part of the hospital. Everyone caught on pretty quick. So when I officially announce it at work in 2 weeks, it wont be a real surprise for everyone.
I found it really hard to keep this secret- also being sick 24/7 didn't help.
