hi zjb, I hope you get some embies to test soon. You come across as a strong woman. You have also been through the wringer and deserve a good break from all the crap we get thrown at us.

Hey zjb, thanks so much for your thoughts. Sending you the best of luck too, hoping that you get a good cycle next with lots of embies. Stay in touch.

Thanks Spock too for your kind wishes.

Liltuss how are you going? Sounds like that embie is very sticky and burrowing in nicely??

I'll update at the end of the week with how things go....

Hi everyone else!

Hello special ladies

Sorry I have been MIA for so darn long. I have been quietly checking in every now and then to follow your journeys and I wish you all the best. IVF + PGD is such a hard road...but sometimes it can lead to something good, as I have just discovered.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I am currently 12.5 weeks pregnant with twins. We did another cycle in August and froze 10 embryos and then in November we cycled again and got another 7. They defrosted the August haul and in the end they were able to test 14 embryos for my heart condition. We expected a 50/50 split given the way the condition is passed down and everyone (scientists especially) were mortified to learn that only 2 out of 14 were healthy. And to boot, they were the dodgiest ones- all the stellar fast achievers were affected. We transfered one blast and one expanding morula and were told not to have high hopes. We were absolutely crushed- it felt really crap to have the numbers fall that way.

Anyway, it turns out these two were little survivors after all and they are big and active and everything looks fine so far. I have my nuchal on Thursday and I am already large and waddling around. I finally graduated from my ivf clinic to an obsterician and it feels so surreal.

I am very hopeful that we will get to the end (they are due in June) and I hold in my heart a big, wonderful wish that every single girl on this forum will find her little pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Please hang in there guys, I totally know how drawn out, expensive, frustrating and often time mysterious and/or unfair the whole process can be.

If anyone would like to see how things progress from here I have a PGD/pregnancy blog:

www.the-smallest-ford.blogspot.com

Thank you so much for being there for me right back to the day in 2008/9 when I poked my head in to ask what PGD was all about. I found solace here that I was not able to find anywhere else xxx

Siobhan,

What utterly delightful news. Wishing you an uneventful (well as uneventful as possible with a multiple pregnancy),. Although the grads thread is VERY quiet, please do pop over and let us know how you are going. My PGD babe is now 3 so I lurk more than post but I still get a chill up and down my spine when I hear stories like yours and I still do cry tears of joy though I have never met any of you. Congratulations once again..... Take care.

Hi to everyone else.... back to lurking for me.

Hello everyone....sadly I find myself joining you here...
Found out during the week that we're now facing PGD....after our most recent M/C of identical twins was tested as Trisomy 13. It was our fourth pregnancy (2 natural, then 2 IVF (one fresh, one frozen cycle)......all M/C's).....so obviously we've got some issues.....hopefully PGD can still find some good embies.
We do however have to change clinics for this, so there is a bit of a wait until I can see the new FS - towards the end of Feb. We've still got 2 frozen embies, but first FS will be recommending a full stim cycle (where the frozen ones can be tested at the same time) before transferring.
I've got no idea of what chance there is of finding/getting good embies, but trying to stay positive..... Is there anyone else here with a similar past, but with good news? Is anyone else doing PGD for recurrent miscarriage....???
Congrats Siobhan....fantastic news! Good luck for the rest of your pregnancy...

Hi Madalem,

I'm sorry you find yourself here and so sorry to hear about your sad losses.

I am here for a genetic disease so different to you but there have been ladies in here for the miscarraige management side of things. When I first arrived the first thing I did was read back through the last few topics and got to know who was who - you'll definitely pick up some heartening stories that way original.gif

Welcome to the group, you'll find amazing support here for all the ups and downs, but I am hoping you have lots of ups and your time here is very short.

Hi all

I was just popping in to say 'Hi' and see how things are progressing for people and I must say I am THRILLED to hear the positive outcome for Siobhan. I remember you from when I was also doing PGD in 2010. A huge congratulations and I will begin to follow your blog.

Madalem - I did PGD for miscarriage management, so know what you're going through...It is definitely worth to emotion roller coaster.

Good luck to everyone else - I hope 2012 is a hugely positive year for you all.

Take care xx
