My husband and I are talking about trying to concieve soon. We each have a son from previous marriages, his is 9 and mine is 8, and we have a daughter together who is 21 months old. I thought I would be done after her, but I really really feel like I want one more original.gif I have had an IUD for almost 18 months, has anyone had any trouble concieving after an IUD?

Not many people have read your post. Maybe change the title to "TTC after UID" and the subtitle to "any problems?" to grab the attention of people who've had IUDs.

Good luck with TTC!

I had a mirena for almost 18mths between number 3 and number 4.
I fell pregnant with number 4 easily. After the removal of the iud i had AF two weeks later and then fell pregnant the following cycle.

I then had a mirena put in after number 4. I had it for almost 3 years and just recently (beginning of feb) had it removed. We are not ttc but so far since removal my cycle has been quiet strange.

Thanks for your reply belnryan!! I have an appointment to get mine removed on the 9th July, but I am going overseas in September. I wanted to give it a bit of time for my cycle to regulate, or whatever, but I also wouldn't be too upset if I fell before the trip original.gif I am very impatient!!

I'm still waiting to have a sticky after having my IUD removed nearly 5 years ago now. Sadly I now have progesterone issues - which is what the mirena had in it. My first 2 I had no trouble falling pregnant. I have now read in the new US pamphlet that the pregnancy rate is 80% after removal meaning that 2 out of 10 women will not get pregnant within 12 months which then places them into the IF section. If someone had told me I had a 20% of having secondary IF by getting the mirena, I wouldn't have done it.

So yes some people do have problems TTC after the removal of a IUD. Of course to those 2 there are 8 who get pregnant with no issues.

Hi Marti,

this is my very first post on EB. Today I had my Mirena taken out. DH and I are looking to try for another. It's been in place 4 years. Not too sure what effect it will play- my age is probably more significant. I am 43. Have not had any problem conceiving in the past and not yet too sure how far down the assisted reproduction path we are prepared to go. Would love to continue to hear stories about peoples journey.

I am probably not much help here as I am only on my first cycle of TTC. I got my IUD taken out about a couple of months ago, I got AF early after I got it taken out and also got a short cycle for my first one without it. I am due to test in about a week or so but my cycle seems okay so far. I did O a little earlier than usual this cycle though so it does seem to have messed with things a little bit.
