We have a an eb facebook running group and one of our girls is from Canberra (but I can't remember her name on EB anymore ph34r.gif . WIll give her a nudge on the f/b group. Also a highly recommend you check out parkrun as you will meet a heap of runners at all levels here. Parkrun is a free weekly timed 5k. They are good fun and great way to push you a little harder from whatever level you are at.

Me!

I'm a runner, who would love a running buddy in Canberra! We have only lived here for 2 years so I still feel relatively new. I live in Weston Creek.

I second parkrun, although I haven't managed to get myself there yet.

I was also going to suggest Females In Training (FIT), and the YMCA runners club - I haven't joined either but might if I had someone to hold my hand!

Are you interested in playing netball. I am looking for a player in our team at mpowerdome, runs tuesday evenings

Thanks so much for asking me, unfortunately I have no idea how to play netball, I think the last time I played was in year 6 so I'd probably be useless!

Snap Fitness in lanyon is only $27.50 per fortnight for unlimited use and you don't have to be on a contract so you can cancel at any time. I think it is $50 deposit for the entry card (as it is a 24hour gym) and they have free joining all the time but mind you I think their joining fee was $20?
I think it is very reasonably priced but not sure where you live

thanks for that, it sounds great, if only it was a bit closer to me! I'm in Belconnen so it's prob a bit far for me to go regularly

I was also going to suggest FIT and parkrun.

Whilst not northside, this is central and sounds like it would be a great way to meet people

Hey, I'm also a runner... on the wrong side of town though... tuggers... however I do run near civic 3 days per week.... google lunch time runs canberra which lists the various running events organised at lunch time, there is the park run every saturday plus the runners club listed has various runs organised - currently tuesdays at 6pm.... not sure where you are on the running front but you can always upload the couch to 5k program on your iphone, ipod, mp3 player which gets you to 5 k in 8 weeks....you can get cheapish pool and gym membership at olympic pool for $13 per week....second hand cross trainer is another good option if you have enough money or room for it.... anyway I can pm you my contact details and I am sure I can think of other options for you once I work out what you enjoy doing and what time constraints you have.... I'm thinking of taking up kayaking for example because I need upper body and I prefer outside stuff... other option is to look up communitiesonline.com.au which lists a whole lot of community groups in canberra which include exercise groups... there are heaps... bushwalking, sailing, dancing, running (which I can give you lots of info on) etc, etc.
