My DH and I are tea drinkers. He never drinks coffee, I might have 1 or 2 a week when I am out with friends. We sometimes have a small jar of instant coffee in the cupboard for guests, if so I will say to people "do you want a tea, herbal tea or we have instant coffee." OMG the responses are so rude blink.gif The number of people who complain about us not having a coffee machine or a plunger is astounding! One friend went so far as to say she was going to buy me a plunger for my birthday. Umm, I don't drink coffee, why would you buy me a coffee plunger?

I don't act like I'm dying if someone doesn't keep my preferred tea in their house. Coffee pretension is so boring and ridiculous, not to mention really, really rude when you are a guest in someone's home.

DH is a coffee snob. We have a machine at home. I don't drink coffee.

My DP is the same.....he is so fussy with his coffee!

I hate coffee...although I love the smell of it!

I drink instant all the time but I only drink moccona indulgence. I would turn down coffee at someone else's house as this is the only one I like and I like to make it myself. I guess I am not a coffee snob, just fussy.

We don't drink coffee either, only tea.

Like PP if I go somewhere and someone does not have my fav tea, I just drink whatever they give me, home brand, worlds most expensive whatever. It may not be the best cup of tea I have ever had, they may have given me too much milk (my pet hate) , but I just suck it down to be polite.

So no I don't get the refusal over brands of coffee or whether it is instant or what not when you are a guest at someones house.

I don't drink instant but wouldn't expect a friend to have a machine, I'd rather have a cup of tea.

Don't crowd Sir Walter, Edmund.
We have a coffee machine, but I think it needs service and also, I don't know how to use it. I am a tea drinker, so I don't really like instant coffee, but I would take it over bad tea.

I don't drink instant coffee. If I was at your place I'd just have a tea.

My war paint is Sharpie ink
I'm a tea drinker so we don't have a coffee machine. I will ocassionally have a nice coffee at a restaurant or cafe but I wouldn't drink instant.

For coffee drinkers I keep a plunger and coffee bags. Coffee bags are a much better alternative to instant coffee to offer guests and because I don't use them much the cost is not too much.

I don;t expect a coffee machine but i would decline the offer of instant.

This is fine, and not rude. But please don't react like a friend of mine once: "Oh, do you only have instant? I never drink instant. I can never understand why someone would drink instant coffee."

So dramatic that I laughed, but it was a little bit rude.
