Hi Everyone

DH and I are planning on taking DS1 (4) and DS2 (2) to the sunshine coast in July. Can anyone recommend some family friendly accommodation on the sunshine coast.

Dont know the area at all so have no preference of towns.

thanks

I used to live there. I would say Mooloolaba, you would be in close proximity to Underwater World and it is nice around there with the Surf Club etc. It is also closer to Australia Zoo rather than say Sunshine Beach or Noosa..

Noosa is nice too but it is about 1/2 an hour in the car from Mooloolaba/Maroochydore.

I'm a local so haven't stayed in a lot of the resorts but can help with location.
Mooloolaba is probably the best for heaps of dining choices and being right across the road to the beach.
Near by is Alexandra Headland which is another great area and then in Maroochydore Cotton Tree is a great spot.
Another favorite spot of ours is Caloundra. There are lots of options such as Kings Beach, Golden Beach, Bulcock Beach.
UnderWaterWorld has been refurbishing the aquarium tunnel so check their website before going because it really isn't worth the effort if that is still closed.
Australia zoo has just opened their new Safari area so that's definitely worth a visit.

We always stay at Waves - quite luxurious! - but for little kids, you can't go past Cotton Tree. There's the beach, but also the river, a surf club, walking distance to shops and restaurants. My Dad used to spend every Christmas in an apartment holiday accommodation called Beach Houses - it's brilliantly located: a minute's walk to Maroochydore Surf Club and Beach (patrolled).

I'd also agree that Mooloolaba would be good, though for little ones you really can't go past Cotton Tree - a nice little (relatively) quiet pocket away from the usual hustle and bustle of the Sunshine Coast.

Last time we holidayed at the Sunshine Coast we stayed HERE . We got a good deal from wotif.com

The lagoon pool was great for the kids. The beach is a small walk (across a horrible busy road, but only about 5 mins). There is also a nice fully fenced playground about 5mins walk away.

Have stayed here several time http://www.eloueratower.com.au/

Large self contained units with great ocean views, heated swimming pool and spa, tennis court, right across a minor road to a kids park and fantastic beach. Near the surf club and other places to eat.

Have to agree with staying at Oaks Seaforth. We've stayed there before (pre-kids) and we had a fantastic self contained apartment with a balcony overlooking the pool.

What's your budget? Do you want to eat out or self cater?

Cheapest area would be Coloundra. It's supposed to be relaxed and family friendly. never stayed there myself though.

Cotton tree at Maroochydore is quiet and the broad water is great for kids. There's the public pool with the good kids area, big playground and boardwalks. Plenty of cafes, deli, butcher, green grocer etc so easy to eat out for breakky but have z quiet meal in for dinner. The best Thai restaurant on the main esplanade.

Mooloolaba is touristy. Great family friendly surf beach, lots of dining options offering pretty ubiquitous fare. Underwater world is there, and an Australia zoo bus runs out of there too. 2 big parks and the rock pools at low tide.

Noosa is my current favourite. There's Noosa heads which is more upmarket and there's Noosaville which is supposedly family friendly. Great food throughout.

There are the other little spots such as Coolum, Peregian, Sunshine etc but they're a bit more isolated.

It really depends on what you want.
