Just wondering what everyone's experience has been for the first 6 months or so - I like the idea of having a sling, but were your newborns happier being in a carrier/sling or in a pram? Did you have one or the other and just never used it because bub didn't like it? What did you find more convenient?

For me it was a definite both! I put them in the pram but always had a baby carrier in the pram basket (and still do) so if they get the grumps and want cuddling you can still have your hands free to push pram etc! Hope that's helpful original.gif

Mainly pram but the sling occasonally. The sling gave me a sore back and hips if worn for too long.

I used both as well. Slings were convenient for short trips into town or if my baby was being fussy, but long walks were easier for me with a pram.

Pram only for DD.

Sling/carrier only for DS. We changed our parenting style completely when we had DS; more attachment parenting and babywearing worked beautifully.

I'm the same as STBG.

Slings are great if travelling, whether on planes or trains/trams/buses etc, but the pram is a must for shopping or extended periods of time.

We used our pram bassinette as the baby's bed for the first 2 - 3 months, so they were always really settled in there when we were out and about.

Both! Actually, really just carrier only for first 4 weeks and then a mix after that. Definitely worth borrowing a carrier or sling I reckon, there's so many different types and you won't know which you'll prefer until your LO has arrived.

DD wouldn't go in a sling/ carrier until 4 months when she could face out. Loved it after that. Before 4 months mostly pram or just carrying.

Another for definitely both. For example, I like the carrier for supermarkets and the pram for doing coffee.

Bit of both but my 3rd lived in my sling (close baby carrier to be precise) and it was a lifesaver! So I found it easier to put her in that because she was most settled in it. We still use the carrier (boba currently) for back carries but its mostly the pram because she is walking and its often the school trips we need it for and she likes to get out and toddle around.
