Posted here for more traffic original.gif

My BIL & I are organising a 4 night stay in Sydney for my SIL & I in late June. VERY excited and finding it very hard to keep it a secret. We have just booked accommodation at The Rocks. We will be going to the Good Food & Wine Show on the Saturday but other than that, no plans.

I'm hoping some locals or even those who have been to Sydney and had great experiences could post here & let me know some must do things?! A visit to Adriano Zumbos shop is high on my list tongue.gif I'm coming from VIC & shes coming from QLD.

We arrive on a Thursday morning & leave on a Monday late afternoon, so plenty of time aside from Saturday during the day. We are big foodies so even restaurant ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much.

My girlfriends took me to a wonderful Italian in Darlinghurst called A Tavola (www.atavola.com.au/) and you can have drinks at the Victoria Room before.

For my sister's hens night we went out on the Sydney Showboat - which I was dreading as being tacky with bad food but it was great. The food was really nice and they had a floor show which I actually really enjoyed - plus it was a cruise around the harbour and back into Darling Harbour where you could party on. I was really not looking forward to it but it was great.

I too am food orientated and my pick would be Spice I Am (near central) or DJs food hall or Mamak or Din Tai Fung...too may choices!

Have a fabulous time

Westfield Bondi Junction is great for shopping although you will find most of the stores in your shopping centres back home. Darlinghurst had some nice shops and places to eat.

hi!! Your trip sounds very exciting! I would definitely suggest a lunch on the harbour. Perhaps look at Cafe Sydney at circular quay or china doll at wolloomoolloo warf - both exceptional food with cafe syd having amazing views of the bridge.

Stanley street in darlinghurst also has a number of restaurants and bars which are quite good. Crown st also has loads of places, in particular Bills for breakfast and Billy Kwong and Toko (amazing japanese)

A pp also suggested a few of my other faves- Spice I am for amazing thai food, din tai fung for the best dumplings ever (especially the soup filled ones) and mamak for malasian roti.

Perhaps if you want a lovely girly night out head to either Gazebo in Kings Cross or The Winery at crown st. Both restaurants which turn into bars after service. Pretty good food and great atmosphere to sit and watch the pretty things over a few cocktails original.gif Plus their double choc chip brownie with fairy floss is a must....

Also my favourite restaurant outside of the city is Pilu's at freshwater. It's a sardinian restaurant on the northern beaches. If you have a car i would really suggest heading there.

I used to live near Zumbo's balmain shop and boy do i miss it!!! If you head to balmain, there are quite a few coffee shops and cute boutiues to potter around. The little Marionette just off darling st next to the park makes great coffee and if it's a good day you can order it, take a blanket into the park and they'll bring your coffee there for you to enjoy with your macarons biggrin.gif

In terms of shopping the new Westfield centrepoint is great! Has loads of boutiques as well as the usual DJs and Myer. Oxford st is ok, but i think with the economy quite a lot of the shops have closed down and its not really as buzzing as it used to be.

*sigh* i really really miss sydney.....

Have a fab time!!!

Depends on the weather etc but there's heaps you can do.

Check out the Rocks Markets on Sunday.
Go shopping at Pitt Street Mall/Centrepoint
Walk around circular Quay to the Opera house and botanical gardens, Art Gallery of NSW, Cathedral, Hyde Park
Darling Harbour has heaps of restaurants etc but also has Imax and the Aquarium etc.
Paddys Markets and China Town
Star City (if you are into Casinos)
Catch the ferry to Manly and Back
Taronga Zoo (also a short ferry trip away)

Lots of great restaurants in the Rocks too. If you like beer, check out the Lord Nelson Pub in the Rocks too.

I love the Opera Bar...under the concourse to the Opera House. Amazing view...reasonably priced food and drink, looks very swish.

Definitely do yum cha one day- Din Tang (at World Square) is good but my favourite is Zilver in Haymarket near the Capitol Theatre.

A trip to Manly on the ferry..and walk around to Shelley Beach.
Or ferry to Watsons Bay (fish and chips on the sand or seafood at the original Doyles.)

Orbit Bar is not cheap ($20 cocktails) but has a wonderful view. Amazing at sunset. Summit restaurant is part of it- very nice but also exxy.

I love Rozelle Markets for a fossick through the trash and treasure and live music. It's on Sat and Sun. Great for vintage stuff. Also Belle Fleur is across the road- beautiful little shop with the most gorgeous chocolates.

Or have a swim at the Dawn Fraser Ocean Baths (Balmain), Boy Charlton Pool(Botanical Gardens) or Neilsen Park (Vaucluse).
Or kayaking in Rose Bay or The Spit.

If you want to go to Zumbos I recommend you go to the Manly store rather than the Balmain store. Then you can catch the ferry and potter aroud Manly while you are there.

The Opera Bar is also perfect for afternoon drinks. It is under the Opera House and right on the harbour.

Grave robbery? That's new. Interesting
If you like German food you have the Lownbrau in the Rocks (you should make a reservation though). Pancakes on the Rocks is a must for breakfast, it's open 24 hours.

Darling Harbour, any of the bars overlooking Cockle Bay Wharf, just catch a ferry around.

There's fabulous shopping at the new Westfield at Sydney Tower too. In Pitt St.

Go on a monorail ride before they pull it down rotflol.
