My 5 year old pirate-obsessed son, who had been looking forward to Pirates since september when they released the trailer, was a bit bored in it. He loved Mirror Mirror though!

Pirates is on our list, having seen the shorts several times - casting seems like good fun, although Aardman can be a little hit and miss (mostly hit).

The Lorax would have been better if the very strong sustainability message wasn't further pounded into our heads by the bad song at the end.

But other bits were good fun.

Between the two movies & for your age groups/genders I think you chose Pirates wisely. I haven't seen it, but my son is dying to.

I took DD (8.5) to see Mirror Mirror on the weekend & we both really enjoyed it, but I think anyone younger wouldn't have got it & my son would have been bored.

We are all going to see Lorax including DD (3.5) on Friday & I think it will hold her interest more than Pirates.

I like cats, but I couldn't eat a whole one.
Apparently my five year old daughter loved the pirate movie.
