Mine seems to be going okay...
No nasty smell. Hot hot hot. took a wee peek through the door and it's definately breaking down. I have followed every instruction given to me riligeously though... We put down a 5 cm layer of pea straw to start, for every bucket of foodwaste that goes in a bucket of scrunched newspaper is added, for every 5 cm layer of of our buffalo clippings a equal layer of dry leaves/straw/crunched newspaper is added... |

I rang today and found out my problem is I put a whole heep of leave in at once hence why no compost is being made.
I will start again and fingers crossed it works this time. I neve knew compost was so difficult. Can I use sugar cane instead of pea straw? |

I ended up getting one for my birthday cos DH was complaining about the cost. The best price I could find was directly from the Aerobin site and delivery only took a few days. A bit early to know how effective it is, but a lot of heat and moisture is being generated. Like PPs, I have been alternating food/vegie scraps, light prunings, scrunched up newspaper and grass clippings. The thing I'm most looking forward to is the leachate - sad I know!
Because delivery was quicker than expected, we managed to put the emptied old compost bin out for the annual hard rubbish collection and someone picked it up DD March 2003 DS January 2005 |

I've waited for several months to update about ours....it's a huge bin and we are a small family, so at the rate we are going, we might get 20L of compost in 2010.
But ALL of our vegetable scraps and garden clippings, and some of our newspaper is going into the bin. It's taken a couple of months, but the heat it generates now is quite amazing. |

AeroBin is definitely the best compost bin system around. It has features that other compost bins don't have. Some of its features include better air flow, insulated walls and a liquid collection tray in its base, with a collection tap to siphon off the liquid compost fertiliser. The AeroBin also now comes in two sizes ( AeroBin 200 litre and AeroBin 400 litre ) The features add convenience to it's operation and for many in our busy modern lives, that's worth paying for.
Most people have success with the AeroBin, however the human element always come into using advanced technology like the AeroBin. Having an understanding of the composting process, will help you operate near any compost system more effectively. Same applies with other products. Our friends have an AeroBin 200 and they love it. Prices can vary significantly, depending on where you buy. Just do a Google AeroBin 200 or AeroBin 400 and shop around for the best price. If buying online, make sure you verify the shipping cost before you purchase, as that can be a real gotcha. Add your shipping cost to your purchase cost to get the true cost of the AeroBin product.
