So this is my first time, on any type of forum....I have been trying for a second child for 3 years, and am now going down the IVF path. This is something I am scared about and excited also. It doesn't help that my husband isn't supportive of this....( except he will do the minimal requirements.....if you get my drift) I would love any feedback of your experiences...good, bad and ugly sad.gif I will be finding out on Wednesday how to give myself the required injections, and when it all takes place huh.gif So please give me some thing i can focus on i'm going nuts already!!!!!!

Cheers

Proud BFAR mum 12 months!
Can't help you but since no one else answered yet just wanted to wish you the best. Check out the buddy groups, there will be one you can join, they are really great because people are going through the same thing. There is a TTC #2 group, a secondary infertility group, an IVF group...
I'm currently on the clomid train...

Hi OP,

maybe this topic should be moved to the AC boards, we've got lots and lots of info, advice and support for you over there. IVF can be a hard journey, but so worth it. And I've even known some IVF'ers to find it not too bad at all, it just depends on your health issues and how long it takes for that BFP. IVF is not a magic cure to infertility, and most people don't get a BFP after their first IVF transfer. Everyone's body reacts differently to the specific protocol that your FS has you on. Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 or many more full stim cycles to find the protocol that suits your body. But, and it's a BIG but, I know people who have had a baby after their first IVF transfer: my DP for one original.gif She had her DS 2.5 yrs ago after just one IVF stim cycle and the very first embie transfer. On the other hand, I'm still cycling after 3 stim cycles and 6 transfers.... so it just depends on many things.

The best thing I can suggest is: see if your DH is feeling removed from the process or perhaps his sense of manhood has taken a hit with needing IVF to get you pregnant. Some men really take it hard. And some are quietly freaked out by the needles. Some are freaked out by the powerlessness they have in the process. Some are freaked out by the fact so many people will see their DW's private parts with EPU's, FETS, ET's, tests, etc, etc....

Now, I'm a needle-phobe to the max. Please believe me when I say that before I started IVF (and the reason I started it age age 37, not earlier), is because I would actually faint and/ or burst into tears at the mere thought of having an injection. After 3 cycles, I'm now almost immune to it all. I still get my DP or my mum to give me the needles, but I don't freak out anymore. I used to use Emla cream to numb the injection site each night, but towards the end of my last cycle I stopped doing that too. I can't sugar-coat it, you will probably get bruises on your tummy. And you will get mood swings. And probably pimples, sweats, headaches, sleepless nights. Or not. Maybe you'll be fine.

Go for it, OP. It's an exciting new journey and I hope you get that BFP soon.
