Hi ladies

I have a big 2 year old, who is still sleeping in a cot at home. However, we're going on a holiday and he is too big to sleep in a port a cot (he's over 17 kg, and the weight limit for port a cots is 15 kg).

I worry that he won't sleep well (if at all) if we put him into a big bed while we're away... not to mention that the house we're staying at isn't very child friendly if he happened to get up to wander around in the night.

Has anyone ever had this issue? Any suggestions for us?

Thanks!
Kate

We have a Phil and teds traveller, it has no weight limit. Maybe worth looking at? My 2 year old sleeps in it no problems. It's great for traveling as it only weighs 3kg.

hth!

We went away earlier in the year and hired a cot that subsequently didnt fit when we got to the hotel and compared DS to the cot - he would have been just over 2 at the time. We then had no choice but to use the spare bed in the hotel - we cushioned the floor & pushed the bed to a corner to make it as safe as we could. The 1st night I was so stressed - would he fall out, would he get up etc but he was actually fine. We did make sure he had fallen asleep before he went to bed. He slept the week in the bed fine, so when we got home we wanted to change him to a bed (as i wanted the cot for #2 due in a few weeks) so did that night - luckily we had brought his bed and were waiting to change over from his cot. Since then we have had not one issue - he has loved a big bed which surprises me given he is a big routine boy.

If the bed is worrying you what about putting the mattress on the floor in your room? That way he can't fall and will be close to you. Goodluck.

Exactly. We've used our for months while overseas, and we're about to again!

Almost perfect travel cot.

We have a a phil and teds traveller for DD2 (13 months) and have used it numerous times.

For DD1 who is almost 4 we have this

http://www.urbanbaby.com.au/Go-Anywhere-Toddler-Travel-Bed

It takes a fair bit of weight too (up to 68kg!) my DD and DH can both lie in it. She loves it - we've used it overseas, camping or even when she has her cousin stay over. It takes a cot bed sheet and has built in side rails so they can't roll out.

I wouldn't travel with the pump that comes with it - it's a bit bulky and heavy. We just bought an electric pump and it blows it up in 2 seconds flat.

We have used ready beds for years.

They are great.

Aero beds are good too. But more expensive
