I use a combination.
I have three kids but the nappies I am using now are actually new. They are bumgenius. I was given some by a friend when DS3 was born and I loved them so much I added a few more and I don't use my old nappies at all any more. I haven't done the sums but I think I do save money as I only buy a pack of sposies once every 6 weeks or so and I feel better environmentally. I don't find them a hassle to wash etc - the velcro ones are espcially easy as there's no assembly. My plan was to use prefolds and covers for DS3 but in practice I used sposies til about 8 weeks and then he went straight into the bumgeniuses. My first born could not tolerate cloth at all. She got terrible nappy rash.mthe second born did well. We did cloth( the old -fashioned, not even the terry. ) during the day and disposables at night.
