More carrot sticks please
I was chatting to a mum in a carpark today, and got to have a look at her XC90. Lovely car, but the boot space was pretty small I thought - about a third of the size of the Kia Grand Carnival. She had a double stroller (umbrella style, not a big-wheeled walking pram) and she could fit it in, but only with one of the back seats down. I was really quite disappointed by how small the boot was, because otherwise, it looked like a great car.

Hiya,

It might not come under the banner as an SUV, but we have a Landrover discovery and it has great boot space when using 6 seats, and still a reasonable amount when using all 7.

We have 4 children, and have no problems going on holidays with a big jogging pram in the space where the 7th seat would be. The seats go flat into the boot, so there is heaps of room there for day to day stuff (it swallows up school bags and the pram). And the bonus is that it is a beast if you need to take it off road biggrin.gif

We are in the process of buying a 7 seater, most likely it will be the Volvo XC90 or the Landrover Discovery 4.

Volvo lent me an XC90 for the weekend and I was able to get our Mountain Buggy Duet in the boot behind the third row of seats. I did have to take off one of the wheels though. I am 99% sure you would be able to get a double with a flatter fold (like the Baby Jogger City Mini Double) in behind the third row. I have just ordered one so I will let you know how I go when I test it out.

A lady in my street gets her Maclaren Twin Techno behind the 3rd row in her Volvo XC90.

A few of my friends with 3+ kids have the Mazda CX9 and they all love it. It does seem to use a lot of fuel and there isn't a diesel option which rules it out for us. Pretty sure they have started making it in a 2 wheel drive version so the fuel consumption on that model would be more economical than the all wheel drive version.

Skoomeez?
The boot of the CX-9 is angled and sort of rounded (the glass). When the rear seats were up in the one we saw, the boot was up, and if you stood at the side of the vehicle, you could see the headrests outside the frame of the car (where the boot meets the side at the back).

Really hard to explain! You'd know what I meant if you saw it.

Friend has XC90 - rear seats are nice and roomy, and boot is impressive for a part-time 7-seater, compared to many I've looked at.

VW Multivan.

Seven seater. All with lap/sash belts. Five back-of-seat anchor points standard. Can have a party back there, even with four car seats!

I don't even bother folding my stroller up before I toss it in the back!

We're starting to really like the Volvo also. It seems to tick all the boxes so far.
