I'm really worried about back issues that I've had since I was 16 flaring up yet again now that I'm pregnant. I've got a couple of disc bulges in my lower back which results in terrible sciatica and bilateral paresthesia (lose feeling to my legs if I lay flat on my back, a bit of bone (about 4cm long and 1cm wide) that chipped off the top of the right hand side of my pelvis, plus have mild scoliosis and lordosis. It's all fun and games...
I do have a back brace, but I'm not sure if it's safe to wear during pregnancy? It's this particular brace here (http://www.mcdavidusa.com/store/item.asp?ITEM_ID=93&DEPARTMENT_ID=57) that I have but mine isn't quite as wide as what the picture makes it seem! |

I have similar issues OP and I've stopped using my brace. My belly is quite big and I would not be comfortable putting that much pressure on it.
I'm seeing a Chiropractor this week actually. I'm 13weeks and I've noticed a bulge at the base of my spine that feels bruised and sore. I have experienced bad back pain in previous pregnancies so I believe it's important to be as proactive as you can. I did yoga in other pregnancies, which did help, except I also get SPD so that make yoga almost impossible by around 28 weeks. Good luck with it. Fortunately, it's only 6months or so. |
