DS 18 months has broken several child proofing locks and has just taught himself how to open the other type of child proofing locks you know the ones when you open the door a little bit then push the lever in while you open the door fully with the other hand *sigh*
Anyone else wiht a toddler like this? What did you do? |

Yep my DD. She can also climb.
The only thing we can do, with DD, is shut doors to keep her out of rooms we don't really want her to play in i.e. the bathroom or safety gates on rooms such as kitchen. Moving stuff you don't want them messing with and lots of verbal boundary setting "No Mummy doesn't like it when you play with the knives" etc |

Another who uses babygates. I also only used the footpedal ones.
DS1 at 18m could work Nonna's grip, squeeze and lift handle on her babygate. Although he knew how the footpedal ones worked he did not have the weight to open them until 4-5yrs of age (and also that only by jumping up and down on the pedal). |

After tidying up the tupperware cupboard several times a day
Cleaning and medicinal products are up high in the laundry. I keep all doors closed as he went through a stage of emptying clothes and shoes out of the cupboard/drawers. This post has been edited by ~Jane05~: 24/04/2012, 12:12 PM |

The toddlers at daycare have worked out the magnetic locks so I wouldn't bother with those. Closed doors or baby gates would be the way to go

They have worked out how to open the magnetic locks without the key? I would assume that, unless the kid is able to scale walls, there is somewhere in the house that is out of reach of an 18 month old that the key can be kept.
