? Anyone who can comment specifically on a child who has attended just 1/2-1 day/week? (I'm considering 3-4 hrs at occasional care/ week) or am I just crazy? DS started daycare in February this year at 16 months and goes two days a week. He has just finished his third course of antibiotics, yet he has only missed four days this winter. We've had a couple of colds but most have been ear/throat/chest infections. My experience has been he starts feeling unwell on his off days and has fully recovered by the time he's due back. It hasn't been that bad really, I was expecting him to be sick constantly. Although I am looking forward to the end of winter, I'm sick of the persistent runny nose. |

The one piece of advice I wish someone had given me before starting a child in daycare is make sure YOUR boosters (vaccinations) are up to date. I didn't realise that they wore off and I caught German Measles and Whopping Cough in the same year. Thankfully DS didn't catch them but I am convinced the bugs came from the centre. I would also get a flu shot too if I had a kid in care again.
DS did get sick a lot at care but also got better quite quickly. The killer was me- I would catch everything he had and it would drag out for weeks. |

Oh also should have mentioned that I have a DD who I chose to send to family daycare. She has been sick but no where near as much as DS was. Highly recommend FDC.
