Ok, I need to google what a mirena is!! Will be thinking of you on Friday doctorseuss... hope it all goes well for you.

I'm a bit conflicted about contraception. I stopped taking the pill years and years ago as I got rotten headaches every month which cleared up once I stopped taking the pill. I loved not being on it and am really reluctant to take it (or anything involving chemicals in my system) again. I fell pregnant so easily when I tried that I dont want to muck around with my system at all, as we will want #2 sooner rather than later. Being 37 already I'm conscious of it getting harder to conceive as I get older. We've always relied on DH having "good timing", but I guess if that goes wrong we run the risk of having baby #2 much sooner than planned!!! Something I need to think about I guess.

Ok... Off to Dr Google I go!

Thanks girls. The mirena is just a coil with some hormones, I've never had it - always used the pill - but it's a good long term option. We don't want more kids so I though this would be perfect. It's meant to be so easy.... But it just wouldn't go into my cervix apparently. I had problems with the minipill so I don't really have another good option. But not looking forward to tomorrow.

Sage has woken and is crying, I'd better go.

Hi doctorseuss. My OB explained a bit more about the mirena today and it does sound like a great long term option. Bugger that they couldn't get it inserted easily, having to go under anesthetic (I know that is spelled wrong but have no idea how to spell it correctly!) to get it in is a pain. Will Sage need a bottle during the day or is the surgery quick enough that you don't need to worry?

I got some info on the Implanon today (another long term option) but the mini pill sounds the least obtrusive method so I think I'll either start taking that or just stick to our usual method and hope there's no accidents - in the next 6 months at least. I hate the thought of introducing chemicals into my reproductive system. Getting pregnant this time was such a breeze that I don't want to muck around with anything! I'm being paranoid I'm sure, so will discuss with DH and think about it some more.

Good luck tomorrow, will be thinking of you.

It's hard to say no to Yoo-Hoo. The name literally beckons.
Hurry up, just to comment on the pill, I was on it continuously from ages 13 to 35 when I went off for 5 cycles do I could chart before TTC. The first month we tried, DS was conceived. That was at age 35 after 22 years of pill use. I know everyone is different but just thought I'd let you know that the chemicals don't necessarily mean bad news. That said, I'm interested in exploring other methods of birth control as I did enjoy the break from the pill. Mind you at the moment we have zero plans for more kids ever so my methods might be less of a deciding factor.

Good luck deciding.

Hope all goes well doc.

Archer was screaming with wind pain, just what you want at 3.30 in the morning.he's settled down now.I knew it might happen, he had such a good run this afternoon sleeping for four hours at a stretch.now he's back to three, not great but better than the hourly wakeups he's been doing recently.

Hi Everyone,

I haven't posted for a long time. My little one Lucy has had some terrible wind/colic and we ended up going to the doctors on Tuesday. The GP is testing as to whether she has a lactose intolerance to my breast milk due to explosive loose, slimy constant green poos but because she is thriving in all other ways ie. weight gains, good skin tone etc she is more convinced that is a bad bout of colic which she will grow out of over the next few weeks with some hope.

The GP prescribed Rhubarb drops which are manufactured by the Women's & Children's Hospital (in Adelaide). Since taking the drops Lucy seems to be improving each day. She was soooo hard to settle due to her tummy pains but seems much more calm and happy to be put on her play mat or bassinet after a feed and be content even if she doesn't sleep. Luckily she has slept for 4hours at a time at night but not at all much during the day. Last night she slept for 8 hours straight - I think she was just soo tired and the drops relieved the pain allowing her to get some good sleep. I was up with her from 3am to 5:30 trying to get her back down but I couldn't blame her for not being tired!

I have felt so guilty wishing that we could fast forward a few weeks through this difficult time but we just want her to be happy and pain free. Hopefully things continue to improve.

Hope everyone is well with their little bubbies.

xox

Hi girls,
Am back home now after my hospital stay, it all went smoothly enough...other than DH who decided to start a huge argument with me in the car on the way there, so I arrived in tears. He's being a PITA....all about me watching biggest loser every night. I feed Sage at 7pm so have been following it for the first time and so now would like to see how it all pans out. He's not a fan.

Anyway the anaesthetic has knocked me for 6 but the procedure took 2 minutes apparently. The hardest part was fasting from 2am to 1pm, I was starving. Sage had her first bottle of formula - she wasn't enthusiastic but took it all eventually. Sadly when I got home my breast pump wouldn't work so I sent DH out to buy another one, but was in such pain I got in the shower and tried to empty them. The pump is 4 years old, did work 2 months ago but is dead, and I'll need one for work. I was told to express and dump for 24 hours but that seems excessive to me, will check with an anaethetist friend.

Hope all the unsettled babies get better soon, must be awful for you Mum's.

Oh doctorseuss, what's wrong with watching The Biggest Loser? Do you think he was just trying to pick a fight? Your DH doesn't have to be a fan, when your feeding, it's all about you & Sage!

Gosh, I bet you were starving!! I'm hungry just thinking about it! I'm glad that sage took the bottle of formula in the end! Hope your starting to feel back to normal!

Take it easy

Mel x

Thanks Mel, feeling better today. I think just missing 1 feed has dropped my supply though, poor little Sage wants to feed every 2.5 hours! I'm trying to let her suck more to build up again.

DH calls biggest loser "fat people doing push-ups". A good friend a told about the fight calls DH "fat-a-phobic". His family is all overweight and he is a little chubby. I'm not, so it's not directed at me. I find the change in TBL contestants quite amazing, but really I've just been sucked in by the drama of it all.

I think I discovered the real reason last night - there is a new Star Wars program on 7.30-8pm, he is a huge Sci fi fan (and I'm not). Maybe we need to buy another TV?

Hope little Archer and Lucy are getting more settled. 6 weeks is meant to be peak irritability. A GP told a friend of mine that all babies have reflux i.e. milk coming back up - just some are bothered by it much more than others.
