I was assured it was the fluid was the fluid build up trapped behind the large stool. If this was a large stool passing around the trapped impaction OMG. It's was mainly hard with a bit of soft texture at the end, if you can imagine the size of a potty, it covered that entirely and 1/4 up the bowl part and dr on follow up assured me that this was the problem.

After taking her off the movicol thinking she was ok after 6 days on it and continued to have BM for another 4 days was probably my biggest mistake. we went to see dr for follow up 10days after initial consult and at the time was still having bm mushy but dr advised actilax as I wasn't happy using parachoc. I gave her the actilax from Monday through to Friday but meanwhile she didn't do any BM and come fri complained it hurt and she couldn't so Saturday restarted the movicol junior which took 3.75 days to work and had 3 good poohs of solid/mushy poohs , I am a little undecided about next step. Dr said the movicol was used to get it moving and to go onto the lactulose as maintenance. Can I use the jnr movicol (obviously on a reduced dose that helps her have a BM once a day) as maintenance for next 6 weeks when she goes back for follow up or do I try actilax hoping it continues on from the movicol? Not sure if this makes sense or not sorry.

I'm not sure about the actilax or what it does. But if it didnt work and the movicol did then I would stay with what worked.
Maybe try the movical every second day, or play around with doses so she is pooing comfortable. I wouldnt do any more than 1 sachet a day though. |

When we needed to change we lowered the dose to a smaller amount daily as the day on/day off didn't really work.
What we have found works is half of a Movicol half daily, so effectively a quarter dose. I have a little container that I tip the sachet of Half Mov into and use roughly half for two days. This also gave DS less gas and he was in less pain and is still regular with good, solid formed bm's that don't hurt. |
