I'm buying my first brand new fridge but im not sure which type to go for. I've had a quick look on appliances online and i've narrowed the choices to 3/4 door (or french door), bottom freezer or side by side. This is for a kitchen reno so the cabinets will be designed around it. I doubt we will have more than 2 children. At the moment we have a top freezer, 2 door.

Has anyone got any advice or pros and cons of the above styles?

Thanks!

hi, we have an upside down one. Utterly brilliant, it is a Westinghouse, Aussie made! Cause I am thinking, after bub is older , I will probably need a job, so supporting Aussie stuff when I can! original.gif Got a fantastic deal at Harvey Norman (really surprised). Go Westinghouse!

We have freezer on the bottom and fridge on top which is good but when we replace I'll probably look at a double door one so we have more room in the fridge.
Couldn't justify the cost of a new fridge in the kitchen reno so waiting for this one to 'retire'

I'd go for a pigeon pair myself (separate fridge & freezer) - but I like having a lot of freezer space.

Otherwise - probably a side-by-side. So things don't get lost in the freezer.

We have a side by side Samsung. It has a ice/water dispenser which I love because we are drinking SO much more water. I looked at the French door and love the look of them but what put me off was the bending over to get to the freezer and that it was basically a deep drawer as opposed to selves and 3 drawers in our side by side. We also felt we got better value for money with regard to the size of the fridge and freezer with the side by side.

We have an upside down fridge (ie fridge at top, freezer at bottom). I don't love it. It's the biggest we could fit into the space we had though. It's nowhere near big enough, we still use the old fridge in the laundry for leftovers and things because I just can't fit everything in. And when we have parties or host Christmas, the extra fridge is a must.

side by side though check if you get plumbing to your fridge first before u get a model with water/ice.

we moved house recently and there's no way to get plumbing to our fridge...devastated...really miss my filtered water and ice.

We've got a side by side. We did look at the French door, but found that many of them were actually smaller than the side by side. Especially to get one to fit into the space we have, which is fairly large anyway. We've got a Bosch and have heaps of room in it.

I love my upside down fridge, having the fridge at the top saves so much bending down.

My parents have a french door fridge and it is so annoying, you end up having to open both door so often for things on the shelves and you need clearance on both sides of the fridge
