Hi All, my DS 1st birthday is approaching and I have no idea what sort of snacks I should serve at his bday party. There are a few babies of similiar age coming so wanted foods they could snack on.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks |

I think birthday parties are for splurging so I would have the usual food, sausage rolls, party pies, cocktail franks, sandwiches, jelly cups, fruit, etc. What age group are attending?

We did a BBQ but I also put a fair bit of finger food out.
I did fruit kebabs, pizza pinwheels, cocktail frankfurts, zucchini slice, and also some lollies and other nibblies. |

Hi OP,
At my DS's 1st birthday party we had way too much food but i'd rather have too much than not enough. Here is the list: Potato chips Fairy bread (can't have a birthday party without it!) Mini quiches using filo pastry on some and others without - ham, tom and cheese, pumkin and ricotta, tom and olive Mini muffins - sweet and savoury Mixed sandwiches - egg and lettuce, chicken and cream cheese, ham and tom, cucumber and cheese Rice paper rolls cheese and bacon rolls kabana and cheese cheerios fruit platter cup cakes (these were the birthday cake) apple slice trifle The kids loved the quiches and muffins the best. Have fun s This post has been edited by 1 for me: 04/04/2012, 12:39 PM |

Great suggestions above. i would just add that we did vegemite and cheese sandwiches (seperately) and they worked really well for the fussy eaters.

Fairy bread is a must. DH didn't think we needed it but we ended up going through 2 loaves of bread! Admittedly it was mostly the adults who ate it...

A massive hit at my son's 1st birthday were jelly oranges
Cut oranges in half and take out all the pulp so you are left with just the skins (Like a bowl). Make a couple of different coloured jugs of jelly (green and red look good but not mixed together !). Fill up orange skills and set in fridge. One set cut in half (so you have 1/4 pieces). They look like orange segments but are jelly! |
