Would you be disappointed if they didnt?

DH's family didnt ring on Mattys birthday last week. My parents didnt either. DH's sister sent a text after Matty had gone to school. My brother didnt but has nothing to do with any family members so not a surprise. None of the great grandparents did either.

The only family member he heard the words "happy birthday" from on his birthday was me. His birthday was on Thursday and there has been no late calls or visits from anyone except my uncle.

Yes, I'd be at least disappointed, if not actually a little hurt sad.gif Surely grandparents should make contact for their grandchild's birthday?

Poor wee guy. I hope he had a good day anyway OP. Here, aunts and uncles aren't expected too but they generally do. And grandparents most definitely! My mum (and Dad when he was with us) always make an effort to see DD on her birthday. Her paternal grandmother is in RSA but will always send a card and call her on the day.

My family, I do. DH's no, I don't. Birthday's aren't really celebrated in his culture, so it would never occur to them to call.

In our family we always acknowledge birthdays, kids and adults (small family). I would be disappointed if my DS was not wished a happy birthday by family.

My brother never remembers and my parent are elderly so I have to remind them.
My best friends always remember.
