A family friend remarked to me at dinner that "you go away on holiday all the time. You are so privileged to be able to go away as often as you do"

I don't think we go away enough. We tend to take holidays that are way too short IMO, and therefore not enough time to relax.

This year I/we have: in January went to NZ for 10 days, 4 nights in hotels, the rest with my friend (DH did not come) & at the end of the month went to Canberra with DD & DH, in March went to Port Macquarie for 3 nights with a girlfriend, and also one night at Park Hyatt Sydney with her, in May went to Coolum to see my girlfriend who is recovering from breast cancer for 2 nights, in June went to the snow with DD & my family (DH did not come) for 4 nights, in July went to Canberra with DH & DD, in August had a dirty weekend at PH Sydney with DH, and in November we are going to Hamilton Island as a family for 6 nights.

So, a total of 28 nights away from home, spread over the whole year. Which is actually a lot I guess. Why the **** don't I feel more relaxed?????????

I'm not sure - it would be easier if you could tell us exactly how much it all cost.

I'm not a bad mum, I'm a good mum with low expectations
Well compared to just my two day dash to Sydney to see my husband off when he went to the gulf it seems like a lot to me!

But if I could afford to and had the time I'd go away heaps more!

We get comments all the time about the amount we are away. We go away most months whether it is to visit family or just go somewhere for a short get away: we don't really have long holidays though or go far away sad.gif .

In the past year as a family we've been to:
Healesville 3 nights (camper trailer)
Philip Island 3 nights (holiday resort place)
Adelaide 5 nights (family members)
Warrnambool 3 nights (camper trailer)
Halls Gap 3 nights (camper trailer)
Mt Gambier 3 nights (camper trailer)
Geelong 3 or 4 times (family members)
Melbourne 3 times (family members)

By myself I've been to:
WA (5 nights to stay with my best friend)
Melbourne to visit friends twice, once to stay with my brother for the Titanic
Halls Gap for a Hens Weekend

I have no idea why I don't feel more relaxed TBH. I think it doesn't help also that the more you go away, the more you want to go away!

This was an unusual year. I don't usually go away that much, and it didn't cost a lot as I had a lot of frequent flyer and hotel points that I used.

I think there is only about 8 paid nights in total in there.
