I tend to be amused when I realise that a member has been reborn with a new user name and different story. Does anyone get annoyed/upset over this sort of thing? The member I noticed today had huge sagas with in her previous user name life but seems to have toned it down and simplified things this time around.

Maybe she just realised she gave out too much info last time?

I don't "care" really, I do find it a little amusing.

I think it depends in the circumstances and the intention of the user. A lot of members have been hurt and burned by this kind of behaviour over the years and I personally don't find it that amusing.

brazen boldness
I don't generally think about it.

Probably because I am so slow to pick up name changes and don't invest that much time in analysing writing styles or picking up anomalies in stories. Therefore, I can never pick who the new (but old) users are/were anyway.

I do hate that members change their names though LOL

Doesn't worry me on the very rare occasion I notice. I'm sure they have a good reason - I've seen people take a pretty big flaming (Plark and Zombie Shakespear spring to mind) and I wou,d totally understand if people wanted a fresh start after that kind of behaviour.

The few people who have serious problems I hope get help in their real lives.

Mel I'm sorry I changed my UN - Jen42 was so boring and dinosaurus is so 'now' laughing2.gif besides nearly everyone who recognises me calls me Dino-jen anyway - perhaps that will be my next name....

I'm not talking about people getting a new user name and scaling back how much info they give though.

Wheres my coffee?
I'm not smart enough or been here long enough to relise that it's done.

I don't get why people would do it either. Seems all to hard to make up a story, remember the details and so on.

I've noticed here that it is almost a sport 'outing' people who wish to start quietly from scratch with new usernames. People who do this don't care about the reasons, which could be as trivial as wanting to become lower profile, to as serious as trying to escape systematic bullying, stalking, etc.

I would be mostly quietly sympathetic if I identified somebody starting again with a couple of changed details.

'Outing' somebody who clearly wishes to not be associated with a previous username and who is doing no harm is extraordinarily mean spirited. It's a quick FIGJAM jolly for the person who does it with potentially greater angst for the person they've done it to. I wish it was against the rules.

Obviously it's different with trolling, emotional leeching or whatever, but an imaginary daughter or similar.....who really cares. And even serious cases of trolling are probably better handled through the mods than on the boards.
