Hi guys,
Hubby and i are TTC but i am so confused with this whole ovulation kit stuff

I had my period 27th Feb on the 4th March i started testing with the kits about 11am each day this test was negative right up until the 9th. From the 9th and including today all tests what been clear positives!!! I didn't think you could have positives that long!! (and yes the test line is darker/the same as the control line.) I even got a friend to look at the test today to make sure i was reading it right (i was 100% sure i was anyway)

I took a preg test, which was negative, but i also assume even if the first positive test resulted in pregnancy its to early to detect pregnancy)

My friend said that the LH surge stays in the system until i get a period and thats why i am getting positives still, but everything i have read so far says that it shouldn't still be registering and i should have got negatives!

Hi OP, everyones experiences with OPKs are different. The majority of women probably get their positive for a day or two and then get a clear negative afterwards. But there are some women who have a long surge and do get positives for 4 or more days.

Pregnancy is a possibility but I would think it would either be too early to detect this cycle or you would have gotten a BFP if last cycle and your period on the 27th of Feb was a breakthrough bleed or implantation.

Just keep testing everyday and see what happens!

That can be totally normal. The OPK is trying to detect a surge so the line gets darker and darer as the surge approaches. If your LH hormone is especially high then you will essentially 'max out' the strength of the test so the true surge would have been somewhere within those days you had the positives. The timing looks about right for when you got AF to when you should be ovulating. Sperm can survive up to 5 days so as long as you are having sex at least every 2nd day you will have a great chance of catching the egg.

Pregnancy tests usually don't show a positive until closer to your next AF being due. Some are lucky and get a positive as early as 8 DPO but usually it's later. So it's far to early to be testing.

I would use a best guess of day 14 being your ovulation date since you aren't able to pinpoint it. so thats the 12th March (only 2 days ago). You could start testing from the 21st March with a pregnancy tests (sensitive one like FRER) if you want to be testing as early as possible or leave it until 12DPO to be a bit more realistic (2th March).
