I just read that some people give presents as well as chocolate to their kids at Easter? How many people do this? Why do you do it?

We'll give them a couple of little eggs - little because that's really all the sugar they need, but a present on top of it? When did this start happening?

My kids get winter pj's, but only because my parents like to send them a gift, and I don't think they need to post chocolate - we already have enough. Sometimes I buy them on mum's behalf though.

So a pair of winter pj's, and maybe slippers, depending on how generous they are feeling. No present from us though - one egg each, plus little ones for an egg-hunt in the garden.

We don't do presents but most people I know do. I think a couple of easter eggs is more than enough. Many friends spend up to $30 on toys plus eggs oomg2.gif Maybe I am just a mean mum?.
My parents often give a book instead of chocolate but thats it.

DS 3.5 is getting a scooter from the Easter Bunny this year. It's the first year we've "done" Easter for him as he was too young to really get it previously. Two reasons: We're not big on lollies/chocolates for the kids in our house and we were going to buy him a scooter anyway. Easter just happened to be coming up and so that's how we worked it.

I do the winter pj's thing too

otherwise she'd be getting chocloate from me, her dad, 2 grandad's, 3 aunty's and an uncle aswell as my bestmates. and it turns into a ridiculous volume of chocolate that is really unnecasary.

so she tends to get chocloate from some, clothes and pj's from some or like a PP said, a plate set thingo

swimming in a sea of chocolate! :)
My son gets a small gift cos he is a rare 4yo in that he doesn't actually like chocolate.

I have told him that I let the easter bunny know he doesn't like chocolate and that EBunny said he would bring him a small present instead.
My boy is obsessed with all things Thomas the tank engine so he is getting a few thomas things that cost no more than $10-15 and mini marshmallows as he likes marshmallow. original.gif

He has always been given a small easter gift rather than chocolate as I am not keen on babies/toddlers eating chocolates/lollies.

Our DS has been given a few things instead of easter eggs, which suits me just fine.

We've got a few eggs for him but nothing much to be honest. I wouldn't give eggs and a present myself, but I don't mind if anyone gives him something like that instead of buying him eggs. He doesn't need to eat that much crap.

Winter PJ's is something we've been given in the past. I like that idea, reminds me of when I was a kid original.gif

Our girls get a small present as well as a couple of small eggs. Because one can't eat chocolate without her emotions going all over the place and it's not fun to deal with. She goes from hyper to crying and back again over and over again and that's only after a small amount like a freddo frog size. Another one of the girls is cows milk protein intolerant and doesn't like the dairy free ones we (sorry the easter bunny) has given in the past. So we do a small amount of normal eggs.

I did find some little toy eggs that hatch after they have been submerged in water for a while. They look like fun.

Mutlitasking is not doing any of them properly
I do winter PJs because I need to buy them anyway, and I think it's a nice little tradition. In my childhood memories, Easter was always the first rain for the year and I like the idea of snuggling up in new PJs for the occasion. This year I think it will be WAY too hot (but DDs will insist on wearing them anyway LOL).

They also get a little combined egg/gift just to limit the chocolate content but still keep with the easter egg theme. Last year it was an egg with bowl and spoon, this year it's the Dora bug catcher.
