Hi
I'm still breadfeeding with DS at 18 months and over the past couple of weeks I've been feeling really wonky, tired, lightheaded esp after sitting down for a while like BF or getting a hair cut. Does anyone else get that?

It might be my nutrients or something. Do you know of any BF formulas I could try to get my essentials up again - something safe while BF? I've used the Blackmores one and they smell like fish after 2-3 weeks in the bottle.

Thanks

I had the same thing for months and months after my DD was born - just felt so woozy if I stood up quickly or especially if I'd been on the floor with her and got up. Turned out to be 2 things - my iron level was apparently 6 when its supposed to be around I think 13, and also my blood pressure since having my DD is low (about 95-100/60). The first thing they fixed with iron tablets (and make sure when they do the blood test they do the one that checks the iron stores (sorry I'm not a clinician so dont know the techncial name) the second nothing will fix but I feel a lot better than I did before. My GP said the iron could have been from the birth as it was fine before, and also that BF strips the body of iron too.

I would agree with getting your iron checked, I breastfed DD2 for 2 years and after that was low in iron, as pregnancy and breastfeeding can take a lot of it out of you.

Loves her zoo
Can I suggest getting a blood test before sarting to take the tablets as having too much iron can have a similar effect as too little.

oh, and make you constipated wink.gif

Hope you feel better soon.
