Never forget who you are, little star
DS was days old last xmas so he didnt really get pressies, and this year I can't really think of anything I want to get him. He really doesn't need anything. Of course it is also his birthday 5 days before xmas but as I have ordered an expensive cake for him I'm not planning on getting him anything else this year.

What are you getting your littlies? Any ideas? I don't want to spend much, maybe $50-100.

I got mine a big plastic wagon full of blocks and some of those learning blocks with things attached and inside them (no idea what they are called). I imagine he will have more fun playing around in the wrapping paper this year anyway.

We got the baby a sand and water table from Kmart, $25. It's his birthday a few days before Christmas so it's a double-up present (poor kid!) as we just have so many toys/stuff from our first son. I wasn't going to bother getting him anything but he loves water and sand, and the older boy can play with it too.

She's getting from us/Santa:

An old-school lawnmower style wooden push toy, sorta like this one, but nicer, I think http://cn1.kaboodle.com/hi/img/2/0/0/112/c...v=1214251290000
A wooden bobbing kangaroo pull toy sorta like this: http://www.webbcraft.com.au/images/kanga.jpg
A little wooden bunny toy the nice wood-toy charity guy gave us for free original.gif
A toddler-sized body/kickboard
A pair of little green tennis shoes for (hopefully!) walking around the yard/park
We're building her a wall-sized window seat flanked with two bookcases. Husband is building, I'm upholstering and painting.
And she'll get a new tree ornament. I give one to her dad (and her, starting last year) every Xmas.

Obviously, the window seat deal is as much for us as for her biggrin.gif The rest was pretty inexpensive and should be useful, too.

DS (13 months) will prob get him a little sofa / bean bag chair - some place comfy for him to have his bottles and to chill out, and maybe a wiggles baby swim seat, or something else to use in the pool.

....and when I go shopping I am pretty sure I will end up getting a few other bits and pieces, because I just can't help myself!!!

DD was 1 mid October. We fly to NZ mid December so DD isn't going to get a lot from us at Xmas time due to luggage limits. And budget.

For the plane we're wrapping some dinky cars and a new board book.

She was in her cousins sandpit for the first time recently and LOVED it so we may buy a clam shell thing in Jan and fill it with white sand for her, so will get some sandpit toys as well if so. She'll be happy with jar lids and our plastic gelato cups til then wink.gif
If we can't get one then the sand and water table idea sounds good.

I've got another board book waiting for her when she's back too; a favourite library book that's now returned so she'll have her own copy soon.

And a wooden ELC puzzle - went in with a friend on the 2 for @20 deal.

She's growing longer every month so may need to get some more leggings (size 2 even !) in late Jan. If I see some earlier on sale I'll get them and call them xmas presents too.
ETA - ditto a little sofa chair thing. I've been meaning to get one for a couple of mths now, but want to find a non-pink one.

That should be it. She'll most likely spend time with the wrapping and packaging too so we're not worried that her xmas presents from us will be on the light side. There'll be future years when we're back on two incomes when she'll be able to have a proper santa sack on xmas morning, and will have more understanding herself of what's going on.

Just thought I'd add what we got her for 1st bday, last Sunday, if it helps anyone.

A blue fold-out kiddie chair thingy from Clark Rubber. She LOVES this. Can't climb up in it, folded, yet, but she'll get there. Loves it folded out. I hate all the licensed ones and Clark has 4 or 5 colors, a couple different sizes, etc, just plain with no characters.
A cute pair of leather sandals that matched her bday dress.
A blow-up floaty-seat thing with shade for the pool.
A new book: Harold and the Purple Crayon original.gif
A big green ball from Reject Shop.

Her total bday gifts from us ran somewhere around the $100-120 mark.

Stylist to my girls....
Birthday a clamshell sand pit and bucket and spade. Christmas a ride on with a trailer behind it! Also some trucks to play with as with 2 big sisters he might be bored with barbies!!

Ds, is also a Christmas baby!! I was looking at the Santa photo fro. Last year he was a tiny baby asleep in santas lap with his big sisters proudly next to him! It was a huge effort to go out and get that photo days before Christmas and just after coming home from e hospital but I am so glad I did it now !

Thanks for all the great ideas girls!

Zombie - I just googled wheelie bugs and that is what I am going to get DS for xmas! It will be perfect for learning to walk and riding around on. I think I'll get the bumblebee. They are reduced to $89 at bambinipronto.

Might post a topic like this in the 5-8yrs forum for ideas for DD now.

Thanks again!

ETA: just found another website, classic baby, that has wheeliebugs for $77.76!
