For those of you whose children use a potty, what do you do when out and have to use public toilets? With my first child he was almost 3 and used the toilet seat/laddder combo at home so he was ok with me just holding onto him for public toilets, but my DD is younger and is still scared of the toilet. We only started TT her yesterday and she's doing well so far on the potty, but I don't know what we're going to do at the shops etc. We started now because it's school holidays and we can stay at home more often, but we will have to go out sometime and I'd rather not use nappies.

I used to bring a potty, I just had it in a bag under the pram. It lived in the boot of the car for whenever we were out and about. I used to go in to the toilets and if child wouldn't use the toilet (mine were ok on those small toilets in parents rooms but not regular toilets) then I'd put the potty down for them

We take the potette portable potty wherever we go. I either put a takeaway container under it and dump/rinse, or one of its bag style liners. DD2 uses it happily in the boot of the car or in public toilets. Sometimes outdoors too.

We didnt ourselves but I have seen people carry fold out ones in their cars where they poop into a bag etc

hmm with my daughter I am just waiting and assuming she will get there eventually. She is starting to occasionly use the toilet but she isn't consistent wiht the potty yet either.

My DD was like that, would only use the potty at home for a while because it was there.

When out I'd just take her to the toilet and it was fine. She had no other choice!

Thanks, just had a look at that potette potty and it looks pretty handy! We'll try and see if she's interested in using the toilet without pushing it too much in the next couple of days, but glad to see there's other options out there!

Well, we went out to the shops this morning and first of all we tried one of the kiddy toilets, but that lasted about 2 seconds before she got freaked out even with me holding her. So then we tried the potette plus and no good either. She said it hurt and I don't think she liked the whole bag thing. Oh well, I guess we're going to have to take a potty along with us everywhere we go! What a bummer!
