Hi all,
I have a toddler who is 3 in june and a 4 week old also. The baby is currently in a bassinet in my room but he is a noisy sleeper grunting etc throughout the night and I was thinking of putting him into his cot which is in the same room as my toddler. What are your thoughts about doing this? He is currently waking every 2-3 hours for a feed. As it is cooling down at night I have an oil heater on I my daughters room which may help the baby sleep longer at night between feeds if warmer in the room as he wakes around 5 for a feed and then is screaming at 6. I feel like I am not giving my daughter enough attention as I am constantly attending to the baby. Help please. Jessica |

It is really hard with a toddler and newborn isn't it? I also had the guilts about not spending enough time with my daughter. I found that it got a lot easier as my baby grew and I was able to balance the time a bit better.
Keep in mind the SIDS guidelines suggest keeping your baby in your room with you for the first year, and that putting your baby in with another child doesn't have the same benefits. Remember too that the noisy newborn grunts do settle down after a few weeks - I know my now 5mth old was really noisy in the first 6 weeks but is really quiet now. |

Thank you for your quick response. You're right I forgot about the SIDS guidelines. I will keep him in my room for a while longer.
How long did it take for your baby to start sleeping in longer stints and not need feeding every 2-3 hours at night? |
