I just had my first stimulation cycle (antagonist cycle). Unfortunately, it wasn't successful. The clinic nurse called me today to give me my blood test result but she also informed me that my FS makes people wait for a cycle after a stim cycle before either doing another stim or transferring any frosties.
I am in the fortunate position of having a bumper crop (11 embies) on ice, and because I ovulate naturally I will be doing natural thaw cycles. The only reason she could give me for waiting is that sometimes your hormones are a bit different after a stim cycle and you might ovulate a few days later, so it's hard to pin point ovulation. Sounds a bit wishy washy to me. I have the feeling I would like to get right on with it.
Does your FS allow you to do a natural thaw right after a stim cycle, and if not, why not?

Anyway, I have made an appointment with my FS to discuss it. but I wondered what other people's experiences have been.

Mine happily did back-to-back naturals, medicated or stims. I found that my natural cycle after a stim was a bit out of whack, so found the timing a bit stressful and for my next FET I asked for it to be medicated for timing purposes with Clomid. This FET was directly after a stim cycle, so much less stressful (and yes for all the Clomid nazis it was monitored and definitely no sex happening anyway!) and ultimately resulted in success.

thanks for that reply katiez, hadn't thought of asking about ways to regulate the cycle. Clomid could be an option for me.
Were your cycles ever normally variable anyway, or was it all due to it being after a stim cycle?

I did 5 stim cycles and 2 FET cycles back to back. The only time I had to have a break was after a miscarriage because I had to wait for my HCG levels to come down. It does get hard on your body though, so if you can have a break in between then it's probably not a bad thing.

mine did - they only had and enforced break at christmas when they closed for a couple of weeks. It was an "up to what you feel you can handle" type situation.

Sorry about your BFN. How long did they end up growing our embies?

For my first stim I had 10 in the freezer and did back to back - stim/FET - FET/FET - cycles. I was only allowed to though as I can't do natural FET's so they were all HRT FET's or FSH FET's.

It's true that most clinics wont let you do a natual FET post stim and yes your hormones are out of whack. Most of the time the cycle gets cancelled or turned into a medicated FET.

Hi domestically~challenged - they froze the embies the day of transfer, so they are only day 2 embies. But they froze them all. I am not sure what quality they were.
I made an appointment with my FS for tomorrow morning, which I will got to, but I am leaning towards letting this cycle go. If I do ovulate late then I will be pushing the whole transfer process into the Easter long weekend, which might be difficult if the clinic closes, and we also have an out of town wedding. To top it off my FS will be away on leave from my day 6 to day 20, so will miss the whole business end of the cycle. Sigh. There goes my chance of a 2012 baby.

With MIVF I generally did Saturday and Sunday transfers (had more flexibility choosing a date as my FET's weren't natural cycles). I also did a public holiday transfer over Easter one year. With my first FS there he didn't do any of my 7 tranfers - I got to meet a different MIVF FS every single time I had a transfer which helped me in picking a new one, lol. It's covered for when they are on leave through the nurses and other FS's.

I can do back to back cycles with my clinic as much as money allows us to.

My clinic does a MOS style of IVF so none of the cycles involve BCP etc. If we could only do fresh cycles we could stim and do EPU every single month.

I have had 2 months break in all my cycles since October. December because it was cutting it fine with christmas for my transfer and February because my new FS (same clinic different dr) did more testing which resulted in me having a Lap for removal of Endo.

I am doing a FET cycle at the moment, I tranfser tomorrow. We froze 7 embies at my last Fresh cycle but these were 5 day blasts so we knew they were great quality and that they had made it that far.

I have do do my FET cycles medicated as I dont O on my own. I do Femara for my cycles and yes we did bd this month as well as doing the FET. The dr hinted at trying and my nurse mentioned trying as well when she called on the weekend with my LH surge results.

If this cycle is not successful we will be trying on our own next month and will then being doing another FET in May. We still have 3 embies on ice after tomorrow.

We have had to out lay close to $23,000 since October last year on IVF and associated and even though we are only $13,000 of that out of pocket it is still breaking us with the amount its costing so we have to save up for each FET.

my clinic makes me have a break after each fresh cycle (I have the highest amount of drugs allowed).
This is my first FET and I have been told these can be back to back as the amount of drugs are a lot less.
