As post states. I went to get my blood results and the Dr was concerned as my HCG was less than 100 (it didn't give an actual figure). According to the lab, between 3-4 weeks the range is 50-500 and 4-5 weeks its 100-5000. I'm pretty certain about my dates as I was tracking and temping on FF.
My question is, should I bother retesting? I wonder if it'll just stress me out and make me worry? I was reading a bit about ectopic pregnancy and from my understanding maybe I should get retested because that might be the problem..... I have seen other posts about acceptable HCG levels, the ones I've quoted are on my actual results page from the Dr. |

HCG is not an exact science. There is nothing exact about it. It can be very different for different people. It can start slow, low, high, fast. You just can't predict.
One blood test is not really enough to tell you if your HCG is OK or not so yes, if you do want to get an idea of what's happening it's worth going back for another test. You could just wait and see of course, but if you do get a follow up test you will be able to see how fast your HCG levels are increasing, which is more important than the number itself. |

Please see my signature for my own very successful, and extremely low, hcg test numbers/doubling rate. Hang in there and wishing you all the best!

You really need to know the doubling time - thats what my Obs told me when I was in the same situation. At 4wks 3 days mine was 23, I had to then have another test 48 hours later where it was discovered they hadn't increased enough. I miscarried 2 weeks later.
In my situation the HcG was so low that the doctor wasn't worried about ectopic as at that HCG level there wouldn't be enough matter to cause problem. |

My levels with each pregnancy have always started low and each time the doc told me not to get excited. It's weird coz at 12 weeks I was told it was higher than usual. It's more about whether they double every 48 hrs

Emelsy can you ask for a specific HCG count? There's a BIG difference between being at the 100 end of the spectrum or being down in single digits.
At CD21 (7 days after insemination) my HCG was 6, on CD25 it was 19. On CD27 it had barely moved to 21 and I was told it is likely not viable. I've just had one final blood test this morning (4wk5days - CD33) so I guess I'll know soon. I feel a bit conflicted...when you have fertility treatment you know about potential BFPs so early due to the testing regime. In reality most people would just be getting their first "official" test done at their doctor around now and would be feeling happy about a BFP. Whereas I'm just dreading the results..,.. Thanks everyone
Maddy41- I hope it works out for you. I got my results today from this weeks test (done one week after the first, so 5 weeks 2 days) and they were 13800 so I'm pretty happy with that. |
