Can't give any advice on the blender, but I do make quite nice green smoothies with my Kenwood Triblade Stickmixer..
It does a pretty good job blending spinach, leaves, avocado fruit etc. into delicious smoothies. Sometimes I also put in some icecubes straight from the freezer, frozen berries or bananas and that's works ok as well.
Long term it would probably be a good idea to get a decent blender though.. if I ever have any spare cash....

These blenders are supposed to liquidize whole fruit, chew through frozen bananas with skin on, make frozen cocktails in seconds...just much more powerful motors!

Not sure about the Kenwood, but have used Sunbeam café series for a few months before getting the Froothie Optimum last year,,, which was pretty much the same as a Vitamix. Theyre expensive but definitely worth it. Bought another Optimum yesterday as a gift, the 9900 model this time, and can’t wait to get it!!

I think blenders like the Vitamix are definitely worth it…I’ve used online Vitamix recipes with my Froothie Optimum to make things I could only dream of making with my Sunbeam, and learning new things every time, most recently kneading dough! Kids love making ice cream with somefrozen berries and yoghurt

Yes Yes Yes they are worth EVERY CENT!! Now I know its rude to use capitals but they are brilliant things and I love mine soooooo much!!
For the past 3 years I used a Sunbeam Cafe Series which was great but it didnt mulch up fruit or veg to a smooth consistency so I was missing out on the benefit of throwing in kale or an apple for example as it would turn out chunky and just ruin the smoothie.
My parents gave me some money for Christmas to buy clothes but I ended up putting it toward the blender instead and I am sooo happy I did. I've had mine for about 4 weeks now. Because of the price and the fact I felt guilty spending so much on a blender, I literally spent months (about 9 months all up) researching the Vitamix, Blendtec, Omniblend, Kitchenaid etc etc and watched a heap of You Tube videos where there versed each brand.
The blades on the Vitamix spin at something like 385kms/hour so that together with the blade design and shape of the cannister (plus the tamper which you can use to push fruit or veg around if needed) just make it work so well.
I would honestly not even think about buying another brand as I think the Vitamix is tried and tested and will not only do the job to perfection but last years and years.
My Grandmother had a Vitamix (1950's model) and sadly I dont know what happened to it when she moved into her retirement village 5 years ago (it still worked perfectly though I suspect no one in the family wanted such an old looking machine). I always remember her making me milk shakes in it when I was growing up

I have one and it rocks, you can make almonf icecream, nut butters, amazing smoothies, I use it to make mexican mole (saucewithnuts in it) margaritas, almond milk, flour from wholewheat and more...it's quick, easy and easy to clean as well. And it feels indestructible. It has a switch off so the motor can't over heat too...

Only bad thing isi broke the tamper making nut butter (I turned the blender on with the lid off), but it only cost $20 to replace.

A friend of mine has one and all she ever does is talk about it. I am totally jealous! I make smoothies for breakfast every day with a stick mixer and they're pretty good, but I'd love a vitamix.

Kidsaboveall, I recently got my Optimum 9900 blender and I am very happy It definitely lives up to it's hype. Compared it to my daughter's Vitamix and we were both very impressed,the speed in which I can make my nut butters and ice cream is incredible! Will ask my daughter if she can film it next to her Vitamix

Completely agree MH83, even though the Vitamix is a great blender, the speed in which the Froothie Optimum 9900 blends is incredible, 48,000rpm (Vitamix is 36,000). It looks the same as a Vitamix, a bit heavier, defintiely a great blender I highly recommend!

What colour did you get Kidsaboveall? I wanted the red one but all they had was Cream and Black
