my 2nd was 4.5hrs
my 3rd was just over an hour i went from 4cm to 10 in an instant it was freaky feeling. I have been told to not muck around and go to the hospital very fast if i have another lol

LOL thats what happens to me every time Carmen, I'll be dealing with the pain on the gas and then it just bites through and I reach my point of no return, they check me and I am only 4-5cm, and within 2-3mins of them checking I am 10cm and pushing. I don't know what I'd do if it decided to not express through the last 5cm!

My first was 6 hours, my second was 1.5 hours.

I wasn't planning on having a third and now, after reading all these replies, I am definitely not having a third.

Thank you all for your replies. I already had myself convinced things will progress more quickly this time, but I'm also preparing myself for it not to go that way too, as only time will tell I guess.

We're having a planned home birth (with my midwife living less than 5 minutes away) so I won't have the added stress of trying to get anywhere. And if it happens too quickly for my midwife to get here, then DH caught DD on the bathroom floor first time around, so we're both fairly comfortable with that happening again! I just need to get my head around the fact it could be the same or even more intense than first time ohmy.gif

Thank you again

My Ist labour was about 6 1/2 hrs which is fairly quick for a 1st , although not as quick as some wink.gif

2nd was 5 1/2 hours.

Both were very similar but my second seemed more intense.

It just depends on so many things size , positon of baby etc

Second labours aren't always quicker

DS was born via c-section after a failed induction.

DD1 was less then 2hrs from the first contraction.

DD2 was less then 45min from me feeling the contractions. I had been in prelabour for nearly 2 weeks when my waters broke. All the ontioring said I was having contractions but I didnt feel them until 12hrs after my waters broke

This pregnancy Ive been told to get to the hospital if I even think Im having contractions just to be safe lol

My first was 4 hr 20 min.
Second was 3hr 5 min.
Thats from first niggle to last push. I do get an unusual backache the few hours before, didnt realise with the first but it helped my the second time knowing id be in labour soon.
Especially since the hospital is 12okm away! Went in an ambulance the second time.

Am now pregnant with number 3 and will probably to told to have a planned induction (was discussed while i was pg the second time due to distance to hospital) but i dont want to. Might think about staying with a friend in the town where you can give birth closer to my due date.
