EmbracingIVF – I am currently 28 weeks pregnant with my little boy. Our donor is also from a different ethnic background and is darker in colouring to myself and my DH. I am guessing our little boy will have dark hair and eye colouring and a bit darker skin than my DH (I am that white I nearly glow in the dark).

We have told (from the start of our journey) my parents and sister, MIL, and 3 very close friends. I think the majority of my extended family may know too. We plan to tell our little boy from day 1 how we became pregnant and even though the donor won’t play a role in his everyday life there is the option for the baby to meet him if he wants to when he is older. My DH plans to tell his 2 sisters about using a donor before the baby is born. We don’t feel the need to tell everyone in our lives that we needed to use a donor ATM, but realise that when our little boy grows up he probably will tell everyone which is fine with us.

Hello - I've been stalking the forums for a while but this is my first post! I aim to be a Single Mother By Choice (SMBC) and am going through a public hospital program - I have already been tested, counselled and matched with a donor (I had a choice of one! well, it is public ) and am due to start testing using OPKs tomorrow!

Being 34 and having PCOS it was important to me to get going on this as I don't want to miss out on motherhood. In an ideal world I'd be married and trying naturally, but I'm not complaining, so glad to have this chance!

For this first couple of rounds it'll be drug-free and then we go from there.

Can anyone share their journey with donor sperm? Especially any single ladies as it is probably a bit different, emotionally.

I plan to tell any child that it was a donor, it is different in every situation but for mine I want to be open and upfront. I happily have the support of my family and a few close friends.
