Hi

can anyone recommend a good swim school for a 2 yr old in Sydney (eastern suburbs)? Preferably one that offers weekend classes.

Thanks original.gif

I'm looking into this for my 2 yr old too, same area! I've looked at UNSW pool, Des Renford Aquatic Centre and the Maroubra Swim School the PP mentioned. My DD is a bit anxious so I am leaning towards the Maroubra one as they have only 3 per class. Still haven't called them to find out the cost or times of classes though (just had a new bub so still a bit chaotic around here). Can you let us know if you do call them and find out!? Good luck.

Where abouts in the east? We've used the Hakoah Club and Cook+Phillip. Can't remember the name of the school at Hakoah but they were good, I'm just not sure they do classes for little ones.

I have heard some good feedback about des renford pool, but I looked on the website and whole place looks like it's under construction/renovation at the moment. Will have to call and check it out.

My only hesitation with using Cook+Phillip is the parking, but if the classes are good I can live with this...

I will check out the other suggestions and post any useful feedback.

Thanks

I used to take DS to the Swiss Grand at Bondi. Its a small pool though and its SUPER busy so it was always over-crowded at change over time (ie the end of one lesson and the start of another) and the area is also shared by the gym so lots of people constantly going back and forth. You need to whip your child out quick smart and get them dressed. Absolutely no playing in the pool after the lesson.

We now go to Des Renford at Maroubra. I love it and I also swim there myself. I drop DS at this lesson and quickly hop into the neighbouring pool for a few laps, then back into get DS and we have a play for another 30mins.

They have pulled down the club room out the front of the complex and are rebuilding a gym with creche etc. Everything else at the pool is totally operational. There are 3 big pools, two inside and one outside plus two baby pools outside as well.

Oh and the Hakoah Club has been pulled down now. Exciting retail complex coming soon.....or so the sign says.

if you live in woollahra/edgecliff/paddington, i recommend leichhardt swim school - 10 mins drive using cross city tunnel. the teachers are very experienced - both my 2yr9month old (since 18month old) & 15 month old (since 6 months old) swim there. Between them, they have had 4 teachers, all of whom I was very happy with. They recently won 2nd best swim school in NSW. they have 2 indoor pools - both are heated to 28 degrees so it is comfortable for bubs. I think about $160 per child per term. the change rooms are always empty after our session. massive outdoor car park which is free. if you go on saturday mornings, you can also pop into orange grove markets after original.gif
