Can anyone recommend a good paediatrician, naturopath, dietician, etc for my 5 yo with encopresis (sneaky poos). I'm in the Bayside area of Melbourne but happy to travel ANYWHERE to help my little man get this sorted!

If you know of anything please share. We've been going 12 months and parachoc and movichol aren't helping cry1.gif .

PM Sinister Bonnet, who is probably the single most knowledgeable person on EB re poo. She is amazing. I will let her know about your note.

My son suffers from encopresis. I feel your pain. We didn't have much luck with the paed we were seeing for this issue, nor the dietician she sent us to. We did an elimination diet, had him tested for CF, coeliacs, you name it...no major changes.

Then we were fortunate enough to get in to see a top paediatrica gastro in Sydney -- and ours has made all the difference in the world.

What has worked for us after almost 2 years (!!!) of soiling: doing a total poo detox of Osmolax + Dulcolax. For almost 2 weeks, I had my son home from school while we concentrated on cleaning him out & being hyper vigilant about regular trips to the toilet. It was ugly (tons of massive poo blow outs because my son was so clogged up), but once all of that old clogged up poo came out, my son stopped having sneaky poos.

We are now focusing on ensuring that he doesn't hold on to his poo (which is what got us into the mess in the first place). He has made so much progress -- after suffering for so long, it's wonderful to see him leak free!

Good luck. I really can relate to how hard it is.

Thanks so much.

I actually started him on osmolax yesterday after finding it in the chemist. Because it has no taste we have cut out about 10 struggles a day that we were having just over the movicol!

We've had a big (yucky) day today, but after reading your post I feel so much better (and lucky for us its school holidays). It kind of gives you the confidence to push through. It just seems so hard to break the habit of holding on to it. Fingers crossed osmolax will help us.
