I also use Earth brand dishwashing detergent for heaps of things. (It's cheap too!) I put a tsp in a spray bottle and fill with water for all purpose spray.

Thanks for this - I have the dishwashing detergent but hadn't thought of making it into an all purpose spray. I'm going to do it tomorrow!

OP, we make a lot of our own cleaners using these recipes:

http://down---to---earth.blogspot.com.au/2...-version-2.html

We also make our own washing machine powder with bi carb, salt, citric acid and borax.

I've found some good organic options from iHerb, they ship to australia and are about half the price of what we get here - http://www.iherb.com/?rcode=jpq324

I've ordered a few times from them - organic soap, baby soap, deodorant, cleaning products - all organic and amazing quality. And a lot of the brands you buy here in Australia too so it's the same you would buy here - just half the price wink.gif

HurryUpAlready - I've heard that Method still use some bad chemicals. They still use SLS which is one thing I definately want to steer clear of.

http://methodhome.com/support/faqs/
I often hear SLS being a point of concern on EB. Can anyone tell me what the problem is?

I do use Method products and find them to be quite good.

Citric acid (like you buy from the baking section of the supermarket) is excellent for cleaning toilet bowls. Vinegar with a dash of vodka is the best for cleaning glass/surfaces streak free (I do use a micro-fibre cloth with it - they are the best)...you can easily make your own laundry powder and fabric softener, oil cleansing method for your skin care, but I am yet to find a recipe that works for my hair, so I use moo goo.

It doesn't smell and I don't lick my toilet seat so see no need for disinfectant unless someone is sick with gastro.

Haha, this made me laugh out loud! Totally agree though. biggrin.gif

There are heaps of brands of green cleaning household cleaning products that you can buy in shops or online.

Just google:
Ecostore
Ecologic
Cinderella
Enviro Clean
Herbon

I personally use a great mix of cleaning products and skincare products and I'm really happy with the results. I haven't used anything from the supermarket/department store for over 10 years and my house is lovely and clean and my skin is great! Some of my favourite skincare and babycare products are Weleda, Akin + Alchemy, Neal's Yard Remedies (divine skincare from the UK but now available in Australia).

I personally get so cross about all of the chemicals like bleach and triclosan that the average Australian household uses. They're messing with our waterways and creating superbugs (tricolsan is). Good work and cudos to anyone who's trying to step away from the generic supermarket chemical cocktails.

I make my own cleaner for benches, tiles and toilet surfaces, by mixing 10mls of Eucalyptus Oil with a little bit of dishwashing liquid and fill with water (in a spray bottle). Gives the house a lovely smell and I always use goat milk soap for showering as my husband and I have sensitive skin.
