A fingerknitting child is a happy child.
I was reading the Seinfeld quotes thread. Admittedly, I watched Seinfeld but sporadically - so none of those quotes really made me laugh. However, a couple of people made reference to the "best quote" being "Maybe a dingo ate your baby".

I'm sure it isn't just me; I can never ever see the funny side of any joke (I've can recall several from TV shows) about the dingo and the baby. It just leaves a terrible taste in my mouth. I'm sure it is just that American people don't know the story (these are American shows I'm recalling - like the Office), otherwise surely they wouldn't make the jokes?

I know some people who just can't "get" the humour in The Producers. That's the sort of thing I'm thinking of.

What can't you see the funny side of?

Two and a half men.

The ratings show that this must have a funny side...but for the life of me I can't see it.

Of course they know the story, otherwise it wouldn't make any sense. They are just more removed from the humanity of the story so it doesn't bother them. I don't necessarily find it funny but it doesn't bother me either.

I don't 'get' The Producers. And I also don't get Two and a Half Men and The Big Bang Theory. Both of those shows just seem moronic to me, even though clearly a lot of people like them. One friend suggested I don't get the latter because I am not a science-oriented person. huh.gif Er, no, I promise the jokes aren't over my head, they're just not funny. And most of them are about geeks trying to get laid, not about science.

Family Guy is another one.

Oh, and Jackass the 3D version, in cinemas now? Ultra slo-mo of diarrhea jetting out of a bum 'volcano' isn't funny.

Family guy.

And futurama.

They are soooo unfunny but some people find them hilarious. I often wonder if I missed out on some initiation to that sort of humour tongue.gif

Two and a Half Men, disgustingly sexist and honestly just plain stupid. Same goes for The Big Bang Theory.
