I am on my fourth baby at the Mercy. As a public patient my care has been amazing.
My first birth began as PPROM and as I tested positive to GBS I had to be induced. after a long birth and failure to progress and a distressed DD i hade an emerg csec. recovery was quick and i was walking the next day.
my second birth was less traumatic arriving at hospital 8cm dialated and with in minutes was ready to. However this time I had a similar problem as the first with failure to progress however DS could be seen so using forceps he was born.
DS 2 birth was the best I could have hoped for in the circumstances. I wooke up at 18w3d and my waters had broken. the emergency staff were amazing and helped me to understand that my baby boy was not coming earthside. when arriving at the hospital the staff did an ultrasound and found he was still alive. they gave me a double room ( so DH could stay as well). I was given antibiotics as it was supected I had an infection. after i detailed ultrasound it was seen my DS had passed away. it was traumatic and sad. the staff however were amazing. every nurse, pastoral care, and doctor were sensitive tour needs and responded so well. i wouldnt be in such a great mental state now if it wasnt for them.DH organised an autopsy which found i had a large heamotoma on the placenta that had pulled the water bag away. it was a catalyst for the chain of events that followed.
this pregnancy i have been looked after with great care attending ob clinic every 3 weeks with every test performed and monitored. as much as it is annoying as previously i did shared care) i know they are looking after me and my precious baby.
