Hi
What routine does/did your LO have when dropping down to 1 sleep? I am having trouble getting him to eat lunch before nap because it's too early for him. If he has lunch after he wakes, he's not really having a decent dinner. Any tips? TA |

My son used to sleep 10:20-11:30, lunch at 12:00 then sleep 14:20 to 16:00. It was then lunch at 11:30 with sleep straight after until aout 15:30. Now with a growing baby# 2 I also have to take her into consideration so he now eats at 12:00 and then sleep straight after.
Good luck! |

I change depending on the day- what time he's woken up, what we have on (eg if I need to be somewhere early arvo I'll put him down a bit earlier).
The average is morning tea at 9:30, lunch at 11:30, nap at midday, arvo tea when he wakes up around 2:30-3:00. Dinner at 5:30. Morning tea and arvo tea are fruit (eg third banana and a slice of watermelon) and a milk arrowroot or Sao with vegemite or PB, nothing too filling. Sometimes though if I know he'll have an early nap it's a decent size morning tea at 10:30, nap at 11, lunch at 1:30-2:00 then nothing until dinner at 5:30. I read that as long as your toddler is having 2 decent meals a day then don't sweat over the third. |

My DS is 12 months in about a couple of weeks but is transitioning to one sleep most days. Today he has slept from 1045 and just woken up at 145. He has breakfast at 8, a snack at 10. He will have lunch about 2, a bit late but he doesn't seem to mind.

It's a tough one! I found the transition quite tricky and even now my daughter has been on one sleep for a few months, I have to be really flexible with food.
So usually I give her some morning tea around 11am but it's really like half a lunch. So half a sandwich or some yoghurt and fruit or cheese, something like that. Then she sleeps roughly 12-2pm and then I give her the other half or some crackers and sultanas or whatever. My DD is not a big eater though so she is a bit of a grazer, but it works for us. |

my 18mth old has brekky around 8, mt 10:30/11. Naps 11:30/12 - 3ish, and has lunch as soon as he wakes up. This is very similar to my 18 month old. I find he isnt very hungry in the mornings. I have tried giving him snacks before he sleeps but he usually ignores them. He goes down at 11, wakes around 2 and has lunch as soon as he is up. He does have a BF before his nap though. Will your child be having milk before their nap? If not then maybe give them lunch before they go down. This post has been edited by TooManyToys: 17/12/2012, 09:00 PM |
